I am looking forward to getting to know more students and teachers at SAS.
Jack INTERVIEW WITH ADRIAN YEAP Adrian Yeap is the C.E.O. of Yellow Bus pte ltd ( aka ) Yeap Transport pte ltd What do all the buses do when I'm at school? Adrian: The buses serves as tour bus, workers shuttle bus as well as field trips bus during the day. This is necessary as the school bus fares collected is only sufficient to cover a third of all the monthly expenses for the bus. We choose not to engage bus drivers whom are actively serving the midnight shifts though. It is important that the drivers have sufficient rest.
When and where did you grow up? What was that like? Adrian: I was born in Singapore. My father came from Perak, Malaysia. He married my mother, born in Singapore. My dad only received his Singapore citizenship when I was 12 years old. I have an elder brother and we grew up residing with my maternal grandparents rented house; there were 8 people sharing a house with 2 bedrooms and 1 toilet. I was deemed malnourished in primary school and was provided packets of milk to bring home to drink. I drank them faithfully and ended up being obese as my friends would give me theirs as they dislike the taste of the packet milk. Mum and dad was appointed as the Bus Contractor to oversee the bus fleet at Tanglin Trust School in 1979. I had to translate the contract for them as they could not read English, it was too challenging for me though as I was still in primary school. In the end, the school administrators registered the business for my parents and taught them everything they needed to know to oversee the school bus fleet. I grew up translating for them. At eighteen years old, I was enlisted in the army and trained as a vehicle mechanic and posted to the largest logistic army fleet to assist the officers to manage hundred of army trucks.
You used to monitor your dad’s busses. is that true? How was that experience? Adrian: Yes, I was my father’s bus monitor for 3 years between 12 & 14 years old. Some times, the passengers would be taller than me. The experience drew me closer to my dad as I observed first hand how hard he had to work to put food on the table for the family. I would wake up at 4:30am and walk with him to the bus. I would sleep on the long bench at the back of the bus while he pick up soldiers from their home to the army camp. After he drop-off the soldiers at their army camp, dad would proceed to pick up the students of a British school, now known as the Tanglin Trust School. I actually enjoyed the role of the bus monitor as the parents of the children were very kind to me. I still recall having to comfort a Scottish 3 years old girl whom started crying on the first day of school because the other girl sitting with her, an English told the Scottish girl she cannot understand her as the Scottish girl spoke with an accent. The 2 girls became good friends over the year though.
Jack (INTERVIEW WITH ADRIAN YEAP CONT.) How long have you owned the bus company? Adrian: When SAS decided to appoint my dad as the Bus Contractor in 1993, he registered a company with me. I have served the community at SAS since July 1993. In 2003, after Carol & I were married, my dad transferred all his shares to Carol & I. How many students come on the bus to SAS? Adrian: there are 2989 registered regular bus riders today. There are 1800 registered after-school activities bus riders (these buses depart at 4:30pm & 6:15pm) What do you do for your job? Adrian: The school administrators explained clearly to my dad that the company they created for him is not a transport company. His role is to manage the fleet of buses already serving at the school. Thus, my role is a unique one in the logistic field. I am responsible for the safety of all the passengers as well as the bus crew. I have to ensure that the buses are road worthy and adhere to the standards mandated by the Land Transport Authority. However, I have challenged myself to adopt a higher standard than what is legislated. For example, since the mid 1980s, all buses serving with Yeap had seatbelts installed in them; the Singapore government only started mandating seatbelts on small buses 15 years later. My dad & I were the only ones whom were prepared to adopt the 10 years old age limit for the SAS bus fleet in 1993. SAS is still the only school in Singapore that operates only buses under 10 years old, meaning that our PM 2.5 emissions is an average of 6 times cleaner that other international schools. One eye on Safety and the other on Service is my motto. My dad and I believe in partnership with the school administrators and this has resulted in the long term relationship our companies has enjoyed with the schools we serve; Tanglin Trust School is served by the Yeap’s family since 1979. My dad always share that he will bend backwards to serve but please do not break his back. What are you looking forward to in the future? Adrian: there will be a need to explore new technologies such as electric buses, even autonomous buses. Due to the recent accident, we are reviewing how we can do away with the need for students to cross the road. I have recently engaged the services of a Safety Officer for the company and am looking forward to working with him in engaging with the bus crews on growing their professionalism so that they can be proud of the role they play each day. I have learnt much from the 170 years of the Yellow School Bus industry in the USA and there is a lot more that can be done to enhance both the safety and services that my company offers.

Harry potter movie review: In my opinion Harry potter and the chamber of secrets is a thrilling, and yet fun movie. It includes the interesting and horriďŹ c details of the giant killer snake the basilisk. The only downside is a special, and creepy part at that, got left out. It was the deathday party hosted by nearly headless Nick. I give it a 4 star rating. Enjoy!

Sienna Roblox Tower o Hell Review: Tower o Hell is a very popular ame in Roblox. Basically, it’s an obby (word or obstacle used in Roblox) without any checkpoints (steppin on checkpoints respawn you on it when you die). There are about ten sta es. Some have spots you can’t touch, or else you die, and et teleported to the bottom o the tower. There’s also a timer at the top o the screen. Each round is ei ht minutes. Everythin restarts when the timer is over. Another way to start over is when you all….because it’s a tower. In some cases, you mi ht be lucky enou h to all and land on somethin below instead o allin all the way to the bottom. In some cases, you mi ht be so unlucky that you all on somethin below, but then it’s a laser. And then you die. :( One bad thin about Tower o Hell is that when you et to the top, there’s this lowin door you can walk into, which makes the timer two times aster. O course nobody except the person at the top is happy when that happens, but the unny thin is, when you et to the top, you’d want to speed the timer up too, because you can earn coins by walkin into the lowin door! Overall, I think Tower o Hell is a very un ame, even thou h it makes me ra e a lot. You can practice your obby skills in this ame, and how ast you et throu h them! There’s a variety o different sta es. Some practice jumpin precision, some practice balance, and some practice timin ! These skills are needed in lots o ames in Roblox. These skills are useday and battle ames such as Strucid, which requires obstacle skills to jump onto and off thin s.
