“TRANSFORMATIVE FASHION Junzaburo Iwasawa creates transformable garments that suit different identities and social behaviours. In the past, social rolls were strict to the society but nowadays people have different social rolls within a day time. He encourages the wearer to change their looks by transforming the clothes to assist their social behaviours. Gendered behavior is now more fluid than it ever has been and various sexualities are more readily accepted by others world wide. His reference to Japanese geometric pattern cutting allows him to design genderful garments. Kimono has same shape for men and women but they wear it in a different ways. The reason why dressing motion is a key aspect for his project is that, through this process of wearing they can create their own identity. His garment allows the wearer to experiment their own identity by shaping the garment to adjust to their gendered identity. His project is not going to define what man and women are but to allow the wearer to express their gendered identity in a comfortable way.
