World-class resources are available to everyone who has a desire to get involved and volunteer programs abound. It is not uncommon for residents, as well as tourists, to get passionate about responsible land management through the US Forest Service “Leave No Trace” initiatives. For those who love to hike, bike, and ride their horses through some of the most scenic trails in America, the Tahoe Rim Trail encourages any and all stewards of the land to keep the trails safely in shape. Beach goers are always welcomed to join in on the numerous clean-up initiatives throughout the year. And for those who dream of being involved in some of the most prestigious conservation initiatives in America, the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center is the place to make a difference within our hometown. Monitoring the entire health of the basin is the Tahoe Regional Protection Agency. It is the pulse of a cooperative effort to preserve, restore, and enhance the unique natural and human environment of the Lake Tahoe Region. And that is just the beginning.
