I was listening to the Joe Rogan podcast with Tim Ferris who is the author of the 4-Hour series of books. He was talking about, “There’s no biological free ride.” The concept that he was talking about at that point in time was inside the context of [inaudible] takes like sexual enhancement drugs and that sort of thing. Anything that you do that increases performance in one area, results in one area, is going to take away from some other area.
I never really figure it out for myself before, but there were times of my life that I have gone through this just hyper success period where I’ve just completely been on for the longest period of time, couldn’t do anything wrong, wasn’t saving a lot. I thought that was actually the trigger that was behind it. It probably was a contributing factor. What was interesting is that you’re borrowing whatever the drugs are that in the mind that causes you to be mentally in a place where you could produce that much and create that much in one period of time. Well, it’s got to borrow from someplace else, so it happens every single time as if it’s going to drop off in the end where it’s just a period of exhaustion, a period of, I don’t like to use the word depression, but probably it’s the simplest term to use for the purpose of this concept. I realized for me and for anybody who’s listening to this, the key is performing on a consistent basis and not necessarily looking at those times trying to recreate those times of hyper productivity and chase those winnings but to produce results and create results on a consistent basis.
