Stopping the Mind

I woke up this morning and my mind doesn’t race anymore like it used to, like 10,000 miles and I couldn’t sleep. Sometimes I get to this place where I do a lot of thinking and a lot of that internal talking. I’ve come up with a couple of strategies for when I’m feeling like that and I’m in that place. Number one is record a video like this, just get up and start talking about what’s going on specifically.


What I did, I just spent a couple of minutes verbalizing the stuff that I was annoyed with and stuff that I didn’t necessarily want to do or talk about. That actually gets it out. I don’t have a [inaudible] with me right now, although I could actually call somebody out and have somebody just hear the stuff that’s actually bugging. I think the other thing that is great is get aware of what I’m grateful for, what I have gratitude for. I’m grateful for this, I’m grateful for this, I’m grateful for this. It’s a second way to start and actually as I say those words, I feel the mood rise. Share the gratitude in realizing what’s the worst thing that can happen? What’s the worst outcome that can come out of this, out of any of these situations? How bad can it really get? Then I was just thinking through those things and I was actually going to talk through this. Even when I started recording this video, I felt some anxiety, just talking through this and relieving some of the pressure. Smiling and moving forward and heading in the right direction. Hope that makes some sense. It doesn’t really make sense to me, but that’s okay. It probably connects to somebody out there. Thanks again for listening. Make today a great day.
