who?

Who is this guy? Well, as far as how I met him it was at one of the "Creatives Meet Ups" at SoWal House in Rosemary Beach. Jorge came into the room dressed as he always does with his own fashion style and swag. We introduced ourselves to each other and talked to discover more about each other.

He told me he was from Havana, Cuba, and his family left due to political instability. After a short stop in South Florida, they landed in New Orleans to find and grow to love its diverse Spanish, French, and Afro-American cultures.

He said when he was young he loved to draw. And Jorge's mom, a skilled seamstress made woman's clothing and Mardi Gras costumes for a select number of clients. This gave him an opportunity to let his imagination go wild to create and share his drawings with her.

accepted with a partial scholarship. As a fashion student, Jorge was always doing more than they required of him and as a result, he graduated cum laude and won the Gold Thimble Award from both Anne Klein and Charlotte Neuville. While working in the industry with design companies such as Donna Karan, Liz Claiborne, and Ann Taylor, Jorge always kept his dream near to his heart... the dream of one day taking a bow at his own runway collection debut. Later in life, he did just that with his own namesake clothing line. Today Jorge and his family live at the beach in Northwest Florida. Fashion and the desire to inspire others are still a part of his everyday life. Jorge is looking to share his knowledge, experience, and drive to succeed with others just starting or changing their career path. Jorge says that the only constant is change, embrace it. Learn from the negatives of your past and use that knowledge in your future. When it comes to whatever you are doing make it phenomenal… like someone is going to buy it from you or use it or share it with others.
