YOU IMAGINE, WE CREATE

For whom the Bell Tolls — Regre ably it was for Stafix Cape Town 2023 ended not with a whimper, nor a bang, but in a bright red blaze as our Cape Town shop was totally gutted by fire. The fire, which started in a neighboring building, spread across into ours leaving total devastation in its wake. While this is not the first outlet we have lost to fire, our Nelspruit branch having been gutted in 2007 as a result of a bomb attack on a nearby ATM, it did come at a difficult time, what with the festive season shutdown, with staff due for leave, and suppliers shutting down. However, thanks to a tremendous effort by Shaun, Walter, and the Cape Town team, and some much-appreciated support from Paddy and a key supplier, Krost Shelving who worked overtime during the festive shutdown to supply us with much needed shelving, we were up and trading again early in the new year. We sincerely appreciate and thank all those who have worked so tirelessly in helping us to get the business back up and running and on its feet again. While the Cape Town shop was being revamped, Shaun was busy turning a lemon into lemonade. Two sites have been located that will make life easier for customers and installers by reducing the kilometers they need to travel to our outlets, and will also reduce the time they spend In the Cape's nightmare traffic. This will mean that, like the Phoenix rising out of the ashes, out of our ashes of one large outlet three conveniently placed smaller outlets will rise, one in Montague Gardens, one in Brackenfell and one at our old premises when it has been repaired. A win/win situation for all.

Celebrating 20 years of the JVA Nite Lite Ø Ø Ø Ø Ø

JVA has had our own in-house brand of Nite Lite for 20 years now Marketed world wide and exclusive to JVA Visible up to 300m + on dark nights Announces the ARMED state of a properties’ perimeter during load-shedding Available at all Stafix Branches in a choice of colours and even clear.

JVA Electric Fence installation at Crystal Court, Morningside incorporating Vumacam Pakton Technologies (Australia), in conjunction with Vumacam, South Africa, undertook a project to integrate the JVA Perimeter Patrol 6 software with the Vumacam surveillance system. This was achieved using the Sentient Integration Device designed and built-in Cape Town. The application is able to send a 6-second pre- and post-recording from a triggered event on the Electric Fence. Once an alarm has been triggered on a specific sector from the JVA ZM20 installed on this site, a visual verification will be pushed to a mobile device from a camera focussed on that given sector. The user/operator can then verify if the alarm is, in fact, a true incident and follow procedure to apprehend any possible perpetrators. The Engineers from Pakton and Sentient successfully completed the integration and the system was installed by Security Solutions by Paul's Gates.

VM2 Vibration Detection Monitor The JVA VM2 is a Perimeter Intrusion Detection System utilising Microphonic Cable. The VM2 is designed to monitor one or two zones of microphonic (acoustic) cable to enable the detection of a perimeter breach through the noise and vibrations created by unauthorized access or vandalism. The monitored cables may be buried to detect digging, attached to a fence or placed inside a wall, roof or floor, etc. to detect illegal activity. The VM2, coupled with correctly installed cable, creates a fully monitored, zoned intrusion detection system. Ø The VM2 allows you to control an electric fence from: Ÿ On-site using the optional LCD keypad or Touch keypad Ÿ A control room using Perimeter Patrol Ÿ Anywhere in the world using the Internet

Ø Simple set-up of sensitivity levels (Threshold, Event limit) Ø Independent setting for each zone Ø On board Wi-Fi for Virtual Keypad ™ programming Ø Built-in charger and space for a 12V 7.2aH backup battery Ø Alarms on noise detection, cable cut, cable short Ø Large number of programmable options Ø 2 control inputs Ø 3 switched 12V DC outputs (Siren and Strobes) Ø 3 programmable relay outputs JVA VM2 2-Zone Vibra on Monitor HV Zone 1

Dahua Dual Thermal and Visible Cameras Thermal cameras, which do not require a light source, are excellent for providing enhanced coverage in diverse environments such as those with harsh conditions or extreme darkness. In addition, thermal cameras have long range detection and temperature measurement capabilities, allowing them to be used in conjunction with visible light cameras to achieve all-weather monitoring and comprehensive surveillance. Dahua's thermal cameras cover both thermal and visual cameras to meet different user demands. Thermal cameras are widely used in applications such as perimeter protection, protection of key components (electrical facilities, gas pumps, etc.) and over heating detection in critical infrastructure, forest fire prevention, and other scenarios.

OBITUARIES Andre Fisher It was with a heavy heart that we attended the memorial gathering to bid farewell to our longtime partner in Port Elizabeth, Andre Fischer. Andre has been, firstly, a loyal customer, commencing our relationship in the early 80's, and subsequently a longtime partner and friend. His blood ran Stafix green and later darkened when he also introduced the JVA range. Andre was very popular with his staff and his customers as evidenced by the large turnout at this memorial ceremony. His vast experience and extensive electronic knowledge were invaluable and will be sorely missed. We extend our most sincere condolences to his wife Pauline, who will be staying on at the PE branch and to his son and daughter, Jaques and Danielle.

Rodney Kloka Rodney Kloka was a true pioneer of the non-lethal electric fencing industry in South Africa, having been involved in it since the early 70's. Rod first left his mark on the industry with the development of his early voltage monitoring product, the Mini FEVA (Fence End Voltage Alarm). This precursor soon led to greater things, namely a full blooded FEVA and then the Powerguard 1, 2, and 4 Ranges, many of which are still in operation to this day and these products certainly helped to lead to the establishment of the non-lethal electric security fencing industry as it exists in South Africa today. Not afraid to call a spade a shovel, Rod was popular and a true character earning him many affectionate nick names ranging from the TV characters, MacGyver, and Murdock, because of his ability to come up with ideas to solve tricky problems, to the Mallie because of his sometimes hilarious antics. He will be sorely missed, and our heartfelt condolences go out to Sue, Nicky and Rossie.

Steve Dinky Steve, not known for silent entrances into our outlets, and whose presence immediately had all staff on their toes, was a tonic to all whom he met. Very powerful, with a somewhat scary exterior and a handshake that could squeeze a lemon dry, he had a heart that was super soft and was prepared to assist anyone in need. His love for powerful cars and anything mechanical, earned him the nicknames Mustang Man and Mr. Centurion Gate Motor. We at the Stafix family extend our deepest sympathies to all of Steve's family. Our industry will certainly miss Steve's lively contributions and banter. May he rest in peace.

“We are all stories in the end, remembered by the adventures we had, the achievements we made and the people we loved.” – Nishan Panwar 11
