Staging a home for sale has become very common in the high-end luxury market. But when Linly Designs of Clarendon Hills was recruited to take on a property in Hinsdale’s picturesque Woodland neighborhood, they gave the concept of “staging” a whole new meaning. This was not a simple in-and-out, add throw pillows and accessories kind of job. Janet Linly and her team partnered with a local real estate agent to transform the 5,800-square-foot home into a masterpiece.
“The house already had great bones and just needed the Linly touch,” Linly explains. “Since we do a lot of work in that area, we couldn’t have been more excited for this wonderful opportunity. There are many houses on the market, especially homes that have recently undergone renovations, but we knew that what our design team and our crew could accomplish would be nothing short of perfection.”
Inspiration for the project was drawn from the home’s existing character and architecture.
Priced at $1,876,000, the five-bedroom, five-bathroom house already had a lot of impressive design features to work with, including three fireplaces, a wine cellar, and a dramatic open staircase that wraps around the entire second floor.
“The gorgeous coffered ceilings and striking wood beams combined with the two-story fireplace in the family room are details we wished to enhance,” says Linly. “Furthermore, we were equally inspired by the exterior. The exaggerated roof lines, copper details along the façade, and front courtyard create such a stately entrance.
While Linly Designs is known throughout the area for excellence and the highest quality design, this project was big—even for Linly.
“We often work with clients and begin in one or two areas of their home and once those spaces are complete, we continue to other rooms of the house,” says Linly. “However, with this house, this was the first time we had the opportunity to design every inch of a home—floor to ceiling redesign, exterior, interior, landscape, etc. which proved to be an excellent blank canvas for us to work with. It was such a rewarding feeling to see the entire home and room-by-room flow together so seamlessly.”
Client collaboration is one of Linly’s favorite things: “We absolutely love hearing their ideas, incorporating their personal touches, and getting their input. And there is no greater feeling than seeing the look on their faces when their project is complete and they truly love the results and spaces our design team has created for them.”
Working on this project was especially liberating for the team.
“We all were able to collaborate on our individual design concepts and be a part of the project from conceptualization to completion inside and out,” Linly explains. “Our carpenters, electricians, cabinet makers, and other skilled professionals are true craftsmen.”
In an industry where homes are being built, renovated and remodeled all the time, quality often suffers.
“It took us years to develop this team. They take pride in what they do and understand that we build and construct rooms and cabinetry to last a lifetime, not only from an aesthetic perspective but also from a structural perspective,” she says. “Our team and our crew are what set Linly Designs apart from any other design and remodeling company. Our drive, creativity, teamwork, and high standards that we set for ourselves continue to allow us to work on amazing projects with amazing clients.”
Located within the award-winning Hinsdale Central School District and just minutes from downtown Hinsdale, the house is now perfectly appointed and ready for its next owners to move right in (furniture is available for purchase) and make it a home.
