Chicago’s Northerly Island fills all of the five sensesthe wind in one’s ears, the smell of the lake and salt, the crunch of gravel and debris as one scales the large rocks. A shelter was proposed to be placed at the farthest edge of the site, to emulate the debris and ice cracking along the shoreline.
