There are two ways to define the meaning of equinox. These are astronomical and meteorological definitions of Equinox. Right now, I am going to explain it on the basis of astronomy. That doesn’t mean I won’t be explaining the meteorological definition of equinoxes. We will talk about it in the later section.ccording to astronomy, this is a naturally occurring event during which the center of the sun appears to cross over the celestial equatorial line of the earth. In layman terms, one can say that an equinox occurs when the sun switches sides from one hemisphere of theearthtotheother.

There are many obstacles that the state government, charged with the implementation of the report’s recommendations, will have to face if the Inquiry’s report is to lead to substantial progress. We should anticipate a wild ride that will test the current coalition government led by Perrottet who has accepted all the 28 recommendations at least in principle. There is a caveat here, though: quite what ‘in principle’ means when only six of the 28 appear to be accepted in full is of some concern especially if the hesitation goes beyond the mere need for ‘further investigation’ (and there is much filling in of detail behind the Inquiry’s recommendationsthatisrequired).

Originally, the No Beard series consisted of small oil on canvas works The first that Boyd completed was Captain No Beard 2005, made in response to the 1782 portrait of Captain James Cook by John Webber, held by the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra. Humorously, the expression ‘no beard’ references an account of Cook’s first landing whereby the First Peoples’ assumed that he and his men were women due to their lack of facial hair
Daniel Boyd is considered one of Australia’s leading artists. A Kudjala, Ghungalu, Wangerriburra, Wakka Wakka, Gubbi Gubbi, Kuku Yalanji, Bundjalung and Yuggera man with ni-Vanuatu heritage, he now lives and works on Gadigal/Wangal Country, Sydney. His work reinterprets Eurocentric perspectives on Australian history and the ethics of colonisation by drawing from historic photographs, art-historical references and his own personal and cultural history.

Daniel Boyd Untitled (DOC) 2016, National Gallery of Australia © Daniel Boyd Daniel Boyd (b 1982) is one of Australia’s most acclaimed young artists. His practice is internationally recognised for its manifold engagement with the colonial history of the Australia–Great Ocean (Pacific) region. Drawing upon intermingled discourses of science, religion and aesthetics, Boyd’s work reveals the complexities through which political, cultural and personal memory is composed. With both Aboriginal and ni-Vanuatu heritage, Boyd’s work traces this cultural and visual ancestry in relation WorkingtothebroaderhistoryofWesternart.withanidiosyncraticpainting technique that partially obscures the composition, Boyd refigures archival imagery, art historical references and his family photographs, forcing us to contend with histories that have been hidden from view. His recent work draws on Gestalt theory, the allegory of Plato’s cave, dark matter and the Neckercube.
Daniel Boyd: Treasure Island unpacks the ways Boyd holds a lens to colonial history, explores multiplicity within narratives, and interrogates blackness as a form of First Nations’ resistance. It provides a thoughtful and thought-provoking response to the current moment where critical dialogues on ideas of community, connectivity and Withculturalrepatriationcarryparticularurgency.newwritingbytheexhibitioncurators and commissioned First Nations authors, the book offers both critical insight into Daniel Boyd’s practice as well as creative and experimental responsestohiswork. PRESERVINGMETHODS
www.jwtpublishing.com.auMAGAZINE
Over the many years of home canning methods have varied slightly, especially after it was learned home preserved foods could be a playground for botulism and other foodborne illnesses. While the premise remains the same, Nicholasthemethodisnowsafer.Appert, achef, confectioner and distiller, collected the prize in 1810, after he spent 14 years experimenting so he could learn how food cooked within a glass jar would not spoil unless exposed to oxygen. He developed a method of jar sealing and successfully preserved soups, fruits, vegetables, juices, dairy products, marmalades, jellies, and syrups. With his award money, he developed the first commercial cannery, the House of Appert, Napoleonwhichoperatedfrom1812to1833.waslosingthewaronthe front line because his men were without food and without food, his men couldn’t sustain. “An army travels on its stomach,” Napoleon famously said. His men were without food because by the time fresh foods made it to the front-line from their kingdom, the foods would be rotten and inedible leaving his men to pillage or purchase whatever the native country offered as a food source.
Ancient Egyptian records have revealed their use of salt curing, smoking, pickling, drying, or fermenting as the popular methods used in those days. Drying food methods have been claimed to be one of the oldest means on earth to preserve food with tomb dating instructions discovered in China over 2000 years ago.

PRESERVING FLAVOUR, IN YOUR OWN KITCHEN
Unfortunately a lot of people are under the misconception that you can put anything in a water bath and be safe. But items like stewed tomatoes, for example, need to be preserved in a pressure canner. Even our locally-grown food supply has changed; there is no longer enough acidity in many tomatoes to make them safe as PreservingsuchMuchdangerousThispreserveswithoutfirstapplyinghighpressure.canmakecanningseemlikeadauntingandtask,butthat’sreallynotthecase.informationcanbefoundonlineandbooksasBernardin’sCompleteBookOfHomeareinvaluable.

There seems to be a new trend emerging of water-bathing jars without the ring attached, but this isn’t something that I’ve been doing. HISTORY OF DEEPAVALI
It is astoryabout oneofthegreatest kings ofalltime.Rama was the rightful king of Panchala, an ancient kingdom that predominantlycoveredtheIndiansubcontinent. But, due to family politics, he was exiled for 14 years from his home. He went to live in a forest, and his devoted wife andbrotherfollowedhim.
This war came to be known as the greatest war of all time and symbolised the fight between good and evil. Rama won thewar. By the time the war ended, 14 years of exile had also come toanend.Theyreturnedhomeonanewmoonnight. ThecitizensofAyodhya(capitalofRama’skingdom)lightup their homes and streets to welcome the king home, hence sparking the beginning of Deepavali.
