Ring Forged steel, annealed, bright pink powder coated finish (see details of heat indicator specifications page 14) Threaded socket head bolt Steel, European standard 10.9 grade Hex key cover plate Zinc plated steel
GN 581 swivel lifting eye bolts offer a high load carrying capacity and are tested to meet high safety standards. The nominal values for load capacity in the table are for the most disadvantageous loading conditions, and are also clearly marked on the ring. Unlike DIN 580 lifting eye bolts, the GN 581 lifting ring bolt is captively mounted in the ring housing, yet rotates freely. The hexagon socket head bolt cannot be removed from the ring. The ring can be positioned in the direction of the load to make use of its optimum strength. The higher load bearing capacity as compared with DIN 580 lifting eye bolts permits the use of smaller mounting bolts.
Hex key cover plate allows assembly without the need to use tools: inserting the hex key in the hexagon socket of the bolt allows the bolt to be turned by hand. The hex key is removable. GN 581 lifting eye bolts comply with Mechanical Engineering Directive 98/37/CE and are BG tested. Other sizes available upon request. Stainless steel version, see GN 581.5. Lifting eye bolts, see DIN 580. Lifting eyes, see DIN 582. See also important User Information Sheet on our website for details on proper use, positioning, installation, and inspection.

Safety Instructions The values given in parentheses refer to the load capacity of the corresponding DIN 580 lifting eye bolt. If such a value is not indicated the use of lifting eye bolts DIN 580 is not permitted. The bolt-on surface of the lifting eye bolt must be plane and at a right angle to the threaded borehole. The countersinking must be ≤ the nominal diameter of the thread. The shoulder of the socket screw must be in full contact with the
surface and the eye bolt must be able to rotate through 360°. Before applying the load, turn the lifting eye bolt in the direction of the force. The lifting eye bolt is not suitable for frequent rotation cycles under load. In the case of assymetrical load distribution, each eye bolt must be capable of carrying the total load alone. In the case of load method G1, no cross load forces are exerted on the eye bolts.
The load values given apply for the following data: Material: mild steel, tensile strength ≥ 37 kp/mm2 Mounting thread length: l2 ≥ d x d1 Load capacity for other materials and mounting length of thread on request. Operating instructions with more details and specifications are included with order.

If such a value is not indicated the use of lifting eye nuts DIN 582 is not permitted. The bolt-on surface of the lifting eye nut must be plane and at a right angle to the threaded borehole. Safety Instructions The above values specify the maximum load in metric tons with the GN 586 load ring fixed in place and set in load direction. The contact surface of the load ring must be flat and at a right angle to the tapped bore. When fixed, the attachment bolt must be permitted to rotate freely by 360°. Only the hexagonal bolt supplied with the load ring may be used. The load ring must move freely and must not be supported by edges.
Before applying the load, both the load ring and the attachment bolt must be turned in load direction, observing the allowable load depending on the direction of the load ring. Safety swivel load rings are not suitable for frequent rotations under load. The specified load values are valid for a minimum bolt embedment depth of 1.5 x nominal thread diameter in steel with a minimum tensile strength of 37 kp/mm2 at
an operating temperature between –40° C and 100° C. Load capacity under different conditions provided on request. Operating instructions with more details and specifications are included with order.

GN 587 | Steel Weldable Load Rings Metric Size
Load ring Forged steel, European Standard No. 1.6541, high-tensile tempered, bright pink powder coated finish (see details of heat indicator specifications, page 14) Weld-on block Steel S355 J2 + N (ST52-3N), forged, natural finish
GN 587 weldable load rings are designed for quick mounting. They provide high dynamic and static strength and can be loaded from any direction with approved safety (safety factor 4). Load ring and weldable block are 100% electro magnetic tensile tested to EN 1677. The nominal values for load capacity in the table are for the most disadvantageous loading conditions, and are also clearly marked on the ring.
Retaining spring Stainless steel tape
The two support lugs improve the bearing load of the hooks and enhance the support effect of the ring, especially if the ring is side loaded or the lifting point is welded on an uneven work piece. GN 587 load rings comply with Mechanical Engineering Directive 98/37/CE and are BG tested. Other sizes available upon request. See also important User Information Sheet on our website for details on proper use, positioning, installation, and inspection.
The stainless steel tape holds the ring in any position and dampens any noise caused by vibrations. All parts are permanently connected.

The above values specify the maximum load in metric tons. The configuration of the welding seam (HV) complies with the requirements of DIN 18800, i.e., the closed seam means that no corrosive deposits can collect; this also makes the load rings suitable for outdoor use. Welding must be made by an approved welder in accordance with EN 287-1. The specified load values are valid for an operating temperature between –40°C and 100°C. Load capacity under different conditions provided on request. Operating instructions with more details and specifications are included with order.

Information on Special Pink Powder Coating for Eye Bolts, Eye Nuts and Load Rings
The patented uorescent pink powder coated ďŹ nish used on GN 581, GN 583, GN 586 and GN 587 is especially designed to serve as a heat indicator. As the temperature increases, the color changes permanently from pink to beige to brown and eventually to black. Additionally, bubbles may appear on the surface as temperature increases. See photo chart above. See User Instructions page on our website for necessary WLL reduction and maximum allowed temperature.
