Who We Are, JXTA Public Art apprentices, 2016 On Emerson Ave N & W Broadway, Minneapolis, MN
Black August is like Black History Month, but for Black people. The month-long observance is rooted in prison abolition and asks us to learn about and honor acts of resistance against white supremacy by black political leaders, thinkers, creators, activists, and teachers. This zine was created in North Minneapolis, MN by Public Art apprentices at Juxtaposition Arts in the summer of 2016. We want to inform our people about Black August and tell stories about people and events relevant to the themes of the observance. Enjoy!
