FULL-SERVICE BUSINESS SCHOOL
ACTIVE COOPERATION
WE ARE A FULL-SERVICE BUSINESS SCHOOL with Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree education and MBA Executive Education. Around 150 Master’s and 15 Doctoral degrees are awarded each year at JSBE. Our main areas of education include accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, management and leadership, and marketing. Education offered at JSBE is based on up-to-date research conducted by the faculty.
JSBE ACTIVELY PARTICIPATES in national and international cooperation networks in the areas of education and research. We maintain strong links to the surrounding community by promoting our latest research results and by educating academic experts, leaders and entrepreneurs to serve society.
The quality of education at JSBE is internationally recognised: the Association of MBAs (AMBA) has awarded the Avance MBA programme with a five-year accreditation, which places the programme among top executive programmes globally. JSBE is also a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The quality system of the University of Jyväskylä has received the FINHEEC quality label from the Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council (FINHEEC). JSBE offers several programmes taught in English. Our two international Master’s degree programmes are offered in the fields of Corporate Environmental Management (CEM) and International Business and Entrepreneurship (IBE), and our doctoral programmes are taught exclusively in English. Exchange students can take courses from our non-degree course programme in English, which is also open for Finnish and international degree students. JSBE has specialised expertise in environmental and social issues connected to business. We were the first business school in Scandinavia to offer a full Master’s and Doctoral programme in Corporate Environmental Management (since 1995). JSBE has been repeatedly recognised for our outstanding leadership in training future business decision makers in environmental management skills in the global Beyond Grey Pinstripes survey. Environmental and social issues are an integral part also in the strategic focus areas of JSBE.
JSBE has partner institutions all over the world, and participates in several student exchange programmes, such as FIRST, ISEP, Erasmus and the Norek network. In addition, the mobility of teachers and other staff is actively promoted. JSBE also regularly receives international visiting lecturers to teach on all levels of education.
INNOVATIVE RESEARCH RESEARCH AT JSBE focuses on the behaviour of individuals, businesses and organisations in order to understand their functions as part of society. In all our disciplines, the emphasis is particularly on empirical research on managerial-relevant questions and policy-relevant questions.
Our research is organised through disciplines and research groups. The JSBE research groups overlap discipline boundaries. Recently, the research groups focusing on spatial labour market analysis and responsible leadership have been particularly pronounced and recognised.
