Message from the Rector
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ! Our calling to proclaim and live into the love of God in this world has both an inner and outer life. In broad terms, the inner life is a matter of the heart. It is the search for Christ within us and the exploration of our place in all of creation. This is our spiritual nature which we are called to discover and cultivate. The outer part of our faith relates to how we live our faith in the world. If our inner faith life is our “talk,” then our outer faith life is our “walk.” These two lives of our faith cannot be separated. Our spiritual lives guide and give meaning to how we walk in the world, and how we live informs and shapes our inner faith. St. Michael’s is blessed to support a variety of ministries to support our calls to be faithful, and among them, ReSource for Christian Spirituality is one of our primary offerings to nurture our spiritual lives. I am hopeful that you will take the time to carefully review this ReSource overview and prayerfully consider your involvement in this important ministry of our parish. Peace, The Rev. Andrew McMullen Priest-in-Charge
Centering Prayer “Be still . . . and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10
Centering Prayer is a simple method of silent prayer that prepares us to experience God's presence within us. Through regular practice of centering prayer, we nurture the incarnation of Christ in all aspects of our daily living. ReSource hosts a centering prayer group on Tuesday mornings for an hour. We devote the first 20 minutes in the silence of centering prayer. Then as community we read and reflect on a contemplative book chosen by the group. We close our time in intercessory prayer. Participants are encouraged to develop a daily practice of centering prayer, twice a day for twenty minutes each.
Tuesday Mornings, 8-9 am 2nd floor, Suite B St. Michael’s Episcopal Church In cooperation with Contemplative Outreach
SPECIAL Introduction to Centering Prayer Tuesday, Oct. 10, 8:00 – 9:30 am ReSource Room, 2nd Floor

Our prayer for this mini-retreat becomes, COME INTO MY HEART IN MY EVERYDAY LIFE LORD JESUS. Help me to be empty so you can be born in me again. Make my 'inn' ready for you. Amen. Back by popular request, Maxine Pollock will offer this Advent mini-retreat.
