WITCHES BROOMSTICK GAME I am a music teacher and so of course this usually is a musical game, but you can play and just "say" the chant. It goes like this: Pass the witches' broom stick all around the room, while the music's playing quickly pass the broom, anyone is out who lets the broomstick drop, or the one who has it when the music stops!

GAMES WORMS IN A PIE This game is great for all ages. You'll need some pie tins (1 for each person playing), gummy worms, and cool whip. Put the same amount of worms in each pie tin and cover with cool whip. Blind fold each player. Each player dips in to the pie with their mouths, trying to pull out as many worms as they can. You can either have a time limit and see who can pull out the most worms, or just set a certain amount of worms to find (I used 8). The person with the most worms at the end of the game wins. This game can get messy, but it's fun for the people playing as well as for the people watching! -Gina & Sal, CA.

PICTURE BOARD I like taking out my easel and making up a poster board with photographs of my kids in their costumes over the years. If you have any pictures of friends in their costumes who will be coming to the party, put those out there too. Everyone enjoys looking back at their old costumes and seeing what costumes their friends wore on all of the different years.

CREEPY ICE My name is Nicole and I am 13. I always have halloween parties and one idea I use is to get empty ice cube trays and put in gummy worms or other creepy gummies. Put water in, freeze and you have ice cubes with a sweet treat inside for that halloween punch bowl, or cool drink.

The children stand in a circle, and while they say the chant a broomstick is passed very quickly around the circle. If the broomstick is dropped that person is out, and whoever has the broomstick on the word out at the end of the chant is out. You can either send the person is out to the middle of the circle for just the next round of the game, or you play elimination until only one person is left. The kids absolutely LOVE this game!! - Steve L.

MUSICAL GHOST Decorate a sock as a ghost or some other spooky Halloween creature. Fill it with candy and/ or little treats. Have everyone sit in a circle and pass around the sock until the music stops. Whoever has the sock when the music stops is out. The last person remaining gets the sock with the treats inside or another prize. ~Leah~

PUMPKIN PATCH If you are not able to obtain pumpkins for a pumpkin patch, then make your own out of round paper plates. You can either glue orange paper or cut orange construction paper. Use 1" by 1/ 2" pegs to secure them into the ground. You can also draw or paint faces on each pumpkin.

THE SAND MAN COMETH OR THE DARK COUNT COMETH This game is pretty simple and can be played mostly with older kids. First, have the group stand in a circle, shoulder to shoulder. While their eyes are closed, the supervisor circles them in silence. The supervisor then picks the Sand Man/ Dark Count by tapping that person on the shoulder. (Circle a few times afterwards in order to confuse the others) The game begins on the word GO and participants must break away from the circle and begin introducing themselves to one another. They must shake hands with the other person and say "Hi, my name is BLANK." where apon the other person introduces themselves in the same way. After the introduction they may say some parting words, but then must move on to introduce themselves with other participants. The Sand Man OR Dark Count is cunning. They will take this opportunity to put someone to sleep, or drain them of their life energy. They initiate this by shaking hands with their prey and, using the index finger of the same hand, tapping him/ her on the inside of their wrist (like pointing back towards the person) The prey may now go around and continue the introductions but must count in their heads to ten. Around 8 or 9 they must act like their getting drowsy, and by ten they must sit on the floor. The object of the game is to point out the villian by saying: "HARK...IT'S NOT A LARK.....IT'S THE SANDMAN (OR DARK COUNT)" choosing incorrectly, will put you to sleep also! HAVE FUN - Alcy Leyva from NEW YORK

Hal l oween Cake Wal k I have a preschool, and I like to have games that everyone will win each time the game is played. We play a cake walk game using the colors and shapes that we've been working on, and then throw in some Halloween shapes (or any holiday shape). You have to have as many shape squares as you do "little ones". We tape the shapes squares on the floor in the shape of a circle, and then you have to have those same shapes thrown in a "hat". Start the music and have the little ones start to "travel" around in a circle making sure when the music stops each one is on a square. Then pull out a shape and have the little ones tell you what color and shape it is, and then find out who is standing on it! Whoever is standing on it wins the prize! Then the game starts over until each one has won. Towards the end you have to strategize your music and pulling of shapes making sure everyone wins.

Hal l oween Words Take the word Halloween and put in on a piece of paper or a big board and display for everyone to see. Have everyone see how many words they can make from the word halloween, for example hall, all, wheel. Give everyone at least 10 minutes and see "who" can come up with the most words. Give a prize for the most and runner-ups if you'd like. I have found around 80 words. Good Luck! - Suzanne

Creamy Game Have cool whip or whipped cream. (I prefer cool whip cause there is more in a can.) put a paper plate down for each participant. Then put a piece of bubble gum in the middle of the plate, put cool whip in a big pile over the gum. This can be played between 2-4 people. Tell them to start, the first one to blow a bubble wins. Hand out prizes. - Josh G.

SCARECROW This game is composed of teams. Each team has to choose one person to be the scarecrow or person to decorate. Each team will have a bag of old clothes (shirt, overalls, gloves, oversized boots or shoes, hat, etc). As a relay, each person takes a turn reaching into a bag filled with old clothes choosing one item. He or she then runs it down the scarecrow being decorated. As soon as the scarecrow has the article of clothing completely on, that person runs back to tag the next person to grab in the bag to decorate the scarecrow. The first team to have all the articles of clothing on the scarecrow is the winner.

MUSICAL GRAVES This is a cool game for 2-12 year old kids its called musical graves. You cut out graves with paper or cardboard and lay them on the ground. Then you do the same thing as musical chairs (walking to music and when the music stops you grab a chair) except you lay down on the grave paper. You also walk like zombies during the music time! Enjoy!

Caramel Candy Apple Pumpkins Ingredients and Supplies: 4 large green apples 1 bag Caramels 1 bag Wilton vanilla flavored orange candy melts Apple sticks Ribbon-orange, yellow, white and green 2 microwaveable bowls Spatula Spoon Baking sheets Non-stick spray Tablespoon Directions: 1. Wash apples. 2. Pull stems out. Push white stick into apple where you pulled the stem out of. Do not push stick all the way through the apple. Do this with all of the apples. 3. Unwrap caramels and place in microwave safe bowl. Add 2 tablespoons water and microwave in one minute increments, stirring each time. When caramel is smooth and runny, you are ready to dip the apples. There are two methods to do this. One,is by tipping the bowl sideways and dipping the apples in one at a time turning the apple to get a nice even coat. The other method requires the use of a spoon. Place the apple in the caramel. Spoon caramel over the top and around the apples until you have a nice even coat. Let the caramel drip from the bottom and then scrape off any excess. 4. Place apples on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Spray wax paper with non-stick cooking spray so caramel apples won't stick. Put them in the fridge for 15 minutes until set. 5. Melt candy melts according to package directions. Once melted, place a spoonful of candy coating on the top of the apple. Push down using the back of the spoon and continue around the apple until it is covered. Place on baking sheet sprayed with non-stick spray. 6. For the ribbon, cut equal pieces of each color 24 inches long. Tie around apple sticks. Be creative and use multiple colors.

Pumpkin Rice Cereal Treats Ingredients: 1/4 cup butter 1 package (10 ounce) marshmallows or 4 cups mini marshmallows 6 cups rice cereal Orange gel food coloring Green gumdrops Green frosting Mini chocolate chips Chocolate frosting Directions: In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat and add orange food coloring a little at a time until desired color. Add rice cereal. Stir until well coated. Lay out sheet of wax paper. Butter hands and grab enough of the rice cereal treat to form 4 inch balls and then form. Place balls onto wax paper. Make an indentation on top of each ball with your thumb. Place a small amount of green frosting on bottom of green gumdrop and place into indentation. To make leaves, roll out green gumdrops onto sugared surface with a sugared rolling pin until even and flat. Use leaf shaped cookie cutter to cut out leaf shape and let dry several hours. Add a small amount of green frosting to back of leaf and place next to stem. To make vines: Once gumdrops are rolled out, cut small thin strips and wrap them around a straw. Let stand several hours or until drive. Steps 4 and 5 can be done ahead of time. Doing this will make it so the pumpkin treats can be decorated all at the same time. You can decorate faces with mini chocolate chips and icing. Be creative. Yields 6 pumpkin treats.

Fl oat ing Ghost s Suppl ies: Cheesecloth 2 liter soda bottle Paper towel roll cut in half-empty Tape Liquid starch Balloon Scissors Old towel Empty spray bottle Black felt Blow dryer optional Glue gun

Direct ions: 1. Lay old towel out on working area. It's easier to clean starch up on a towel than on anything else. 2. Blow balloon up to size you want head to be. The bigger the head, the bigger the ghost will be. 3. Grab the empty 2 liter soda bottle and place balloon on top. Use tape to secure balloon so it doesn't come off. 4. Take the cut empty paper towel rolls and attach them to the 2 liter bottle with tape. If you place the rolls in a v shape spread a few inches apart, it will make the ghost appear more realistic. 5. Now take your cheesecloth and unfold a large portion. Drape over your ghost form to desired length. Cut excess cheesecloth off and save for another ghost. Start forming your cheesecloth how you want it to look. 6. Get empty spray bottle and fill it with spray starch. 7. Now it's time to get messy. Spray your cheesecloth ghost with the spray starch. Spray until entire ghost is soaked. Once soaked, it will droop and sag so it will need to be reformed as it dries. You can use a blow dryer on low speed with high heat to help with the drying process, just remember to keep shaping. The cheesecloth will stick to the balloon a bit so every so often pull cheesecloth up from balloon to help it dry. Do not pull all the way off until completely dry. 8. Once dry, remove from balloon figure. It will stick a bit so take your time. Once off, it is time for the eyes. Cut felt into two eye shapes you would like to see on your ghost. Heat up hot glue gun and spread glue evenly to back of black felt eyes. Stick eyes onto cheesecloth ghost. Then you are all done. Your ghosts are ready to display.

Hang in desired location.

Spooky Trees Suppl ies: Black or gray flower pot Rocks Cut tree branches Spray foam Black spray paint Trash bag, cardboard or tarp to spray paint with Fake cobwebs and spiders Moss Hot glue gun

Direct ions: 1. Lay out trash bag, cardboard or tarp on ground. Spray paint branches black making sure to get all sides evenly. 2. Fill flower pot two thirds full of rocks. 3. Spray foam on top of rocks in flower pot until one inch from top. 4. While foam is still wet, arrange sticks in pot. Spray more foam around base of sticks. 5. Arrange more rocks in foam to help stabilize the sticks. Let foam dry overnight. 6. Once foam is dry, carve any excess off you don't want. 7. Using hot glue gun, glue down moss on top of foam until foam is covered leaving rocks free of moss. 8. Once moss is on, add a few more rocks on top of mossy areas. 9. Arrange cobwebs and spiders throughout branches.
