Over 200 years ago, Thomas Edison warned that Genius is 1% ideas and 99% labour. For many, the difficult thing is not planning but having the discipline to take action. It's easy to give too much credit to ideas but Jacob Bronowsk warns: “the world can only be grasped by action not by contemplation. The hand is the cutting edge of the mind”. Economist Tyler Cowen points out: “Information isn't what's scarce; it's the willingness to do something with it.” Everybody has access to information. If you collect information without using it, you will only be frustrated. Reading ten books on meditation isn't as useful as ten minutes spent meditating. You've got to do the thing! My point is not that you should act without plans, instead, you need to balance your appreciation for the power of action with your tendency to over-plan and procrastinate. Og Mandino warned: “Never has there been a map, however carefully executed to detail and scale, which carried its owner over even one inch of ground.” Below are eight antidotes the “best” excuses that hinders you from taking action: 1. “I'm waiting for help.” The person who tries is the person who gets help. Someone said, “the best helping hand is the one on your shoulder”. 2. “The conditions aren't right.” You may be right.
“

Vision is not enough, it must be combined with venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps, we must step up the stairs.

don't want to list major corporations that were created in depressions (okay, a couple: Walt Disney Company, LinkedIn, Microsoft). Focus on doing the best you can today. If there is no opportunity at the moment, then get as good as you can so when opportunity comes you can jump on it.
3. “I don't know where to begin.” Follow Oliver Wendel Holmes’ advise: “Do what you can with what you have where you are”. Stop expecting to see a clear path to the end. Coca-Cola started as a pharmaceutical company. Twitter was the side project of guys working on a podcasting company. You start by trying. If you fail, at least you will figure

out what you need to learn and get better at. 4. “Nothing I do will make a difference.” Of course it will. You can't help but make a difference in people's lives. Sociologists say that even introverted people will influence an average of 10,000 people in a lifetime. Whether you smile or frown at someone can change their day. If you are nice to one person, they are more likely to be nice to the next person they meet. Everything you do matters though it might not get your name into the history textbook. 5. “Someone is already doing it.” Don't let competition scare you. Instead, let it prove to you that there is a market for what you are offering. Ask yourself the following questions: < How can I do it better than them? < How can I simplify what they're doing? < How can I make something more comprehensive? 6. “I have no resources compared to them.” In his recent book, David and Goliath, Malcolm Gladwell explains how people regularly win who “shouldn't”. Having less resources can be an advantage. Consider the Wright Bros. They had a few thousand dollars and beat out corporations with millions of dollars in funding. The size of these companies worked against them. The Wright Bros. won because of their limited resources. 7. “It won't work.” You're probably right. This article may not work, but it might. Most things worth doing probably won't work. Most businesses fail, some books don't sell. Does that mean it's a bad idea to try? 8. “I'm not good enough.” You can improve. I knew nothing about branding as a business ten years ago. Since then I have continued to learn more about developing brand strategies, designing visual identity, et cetra. I've learned some things I need to know and I am still learning. My skills are expanding and my understanding is deepening. I'm not good enough to do what I will be do three years from now but I'll get good enough, or I'll try.

14 Things Ridiculously
Successful
People Do Every Day
H
aving close access to ultra-successful people can yield some pretty incredible information about who they really are, what makes them tick, and, most importantly, what makes them so successful and productive. Kevin Kruse is one such person. He recently interviewed over 200 ultrasuccessful people, including 7 billionaires, 13 Olympians, and a host of accomplished entrepreneurs. One of his most revealing sources of information came from their answers to a simple open-ended question: “What is your number one secret to productivity?” In analysing their responses, Kruse coded the answers to yield some fascinating suggestions. What follows are some of my favourites from Kevin's findings. 1. They focus on minutes, not hours. Most people default to hour and halfhour blocks on their calendar; highly successful people know that there are 1,440 minutes in every day and that there is nothing more valuable than time. Money can be lost and made again, but time spent can never be reclaimed. As legendary Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller told Kevin, “To this day, I keep a schedule that is almost minute by minute.” You must master your minutes to master your life. 2. They focus on only one thing.
Ultra-productive people know what their “Most Important Task” is and work on it for one to two hours each morning, without interruptions. What task will have the biggest impact on reaching your goals? What accomplishment will get you promoted at work? That's what you should dedicate your mornings to every day.
your future self. 5. They make it home for dinner. Kevin first learned this one from Intel's Andy Grove, who said, “There is always more to be done, more that should be done, always more than can be done.” Highly successful people know what they value in life. Yes, work, but also what else they value. There is no right answer, but for many, these other values include family time, exercise, and giving back. They consciously allocate their 1,440 minutes a day to each area they value (i.e., they put them on their calendar), and then they stick to that schedule.
3. They don't use to-do lists. Throw away your to-do list; instead schedule everything on your calendar. It turns out that only 41 percent of items on to-do lists ever get done. All those undone items lead to stress and insomnia because of the Zeigarnik effect, which, in essence, means that uncompleted tasks will stay on your mind until you finish them. Highly 6. They use a notebook. productive people put everything on Richard Branson has said on more than their calendar one occasion that he and then work wouldn't have been able to and live by that “Whenever you see a build Virgin without a calendar. simple notebook, which he successful person, takes with him wherever he you only see the public goes. to see who has intruded into their inbox. Instead, like everything else, they schedule time to process their e-mails quickly and efficiently. For some, that's only once a day; for others, it's morning, noon, and night. 8. They avoid meetings at all costs. When Kevin asked Mark Cuban to give his best productivity advice, he quickly responded, “Never take meetings unless someone is writing a check.” Meetings are notorious time killers. They start late, have the wrong people in them, meander around their topics, and run long. You should get out of meetings whenever you can and hold fewer of them yourself. If you do run a meeting, keep it short and to the point. 9. They say “no” to almost everything. Billionaire Warren Buffet once said, “The difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say 'no' to almost everything.” And James Altucher colorfully gave Kevin this tip: “If something is not a 'Hell Yeah!' then it's a no.” Remember, you only have 1,440 minutes in a day. Don't give them away easily. 10. They follow the 80/20 rule. Known as the Pareto Principle, in most cases, 80 percent of results come from only 20 percent of activities. Ultra-productive people know which activities drive the greatest results. Focus on those and ignore the rest. 11. They delegate almost everything. Ultra-productive people don't ask, “How can I do this task?” Instead, they ask, “How can this task get done?” They take the I out of it as much as possible. Ultra-productive people don't have control issues, and they are not micro-managers. In many cases, good enough is, well, good enough.
06 SUCCESSCODE – August 2016
12. They touch things only once. How many times have you opened a piece of regular mail -- a bill perhaps -- and then put it down, only to deal with it again later? How often do you read an e-mail and then close it and leave it in your inbox to deal with later? Highly successful people try to “touch it once.” If it takes less than five or ten minutes -- whatever it is - they deal with it right then and there. It reduces stress, since it won't be in the back of their minds, and it is more efficient, since they won't have to re-read or re-evaluate the item again in the future. 13. They practice a consistent morning routine. Kevin's single greatest surprise while interviewing over 200 highly successful people was how many of them wanted to share their morning ritual with him. While he heard about a wide variety of habits, most nurtured their bodies in the morning with water, a healthy breakfast, and light exercise, and they nurtured their minds with meditation or prayer, inspirational reading, or journaling. 14. Energy is everything. You can't make more minutes in the day, but you can increase your energy to increase your attention, focus, and productivity. Highly successful people don't skip meals, sleep, or breaks in the pursuit of more, more, more. Instead, they view food as fuel, sleep as recovery, and breaks as opportunities to recharge in order to get even more done. Bringing It All Together You might not be an entrepreneur, an Olympian, or a billionaire (or even want to be), but their secrets just might help you to get more done in less time and assist you to stop feeling so overworked and overwhelmed. </>

If you are among the millions of Nigerians looking for low cost business ideas that does not require an office and many of the expenses that hinders entrepreneurial startup, fasten your seat belt and follow us as we present to you:
Business Plan Service Has expansion possibilities Offer a soup-to-nuts business plan, including market research, the business plan narrative and the financial statements. Plan your fee around the main one that the client will want and offer the others as add-on services. You can give clients an electronic file and allow them to take it from there, or you can keep the business plan on file and offer the service of tweaking it whenever necessary. Have business plan samples to show clients--and make sure to include your own!
Cleaning Service There are many directions you can take this business. If you want to work during hours when no one else does, you can focus on office clients. You can focus on retail businesses and keep your customers clumped into one or two blocks. Restaurants are in great need of daily thorough cleaning and can be a great source of steady clients. Wedding Planner You will need to be up-to-date on wedding trends and fads, dress styles, color trends--almost everything under the sun! Offer your customers an ala carte menu of services, from helping pick flowers, the wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses to picking the venue and hiring the caterer. You need to know every detail of the business to give the accurate impression that you are the goto person for anyone planning a wedding.
19 HOT BUSINESS IDEAS* Event Planning One of the first things you need to do is visit every potential event location with which you plan to work. Work with the marketing manager to tour each site and learn what is available at each location. Start a database that will allow you to sort venues by varying features--the number of people each site holds, if there is AV equipment available on site, will you need to arrange for rental chairs, etc. Then when you are beginning to plan an event with a client, you can find out what the key parameters are for the event and easily pull up the three or four sites that meet the basic criteria. and engagement parties, etc.
Interior Decorator Market your talents to building contractors. People purchasing new homes can often be overwhelmed with the choices and possibilities in home decorating. Design some questionnaires for each major element and each major room in the house. Find out how the homeowner will use the home-are there children? Pets? Does the woman of the house wear high heels? Do the home's residents neglect to remove shoes? How will each room be used? Where might task lighting and ambient lighting be most appropriate?
Freelance Graphic Designer Despite the proliferation of the internet, print media is here to stay for the foreseeable future! Fliers, newsletters, magazines, information sheets, letters and advertisements are just a few of the types of print media that business hire freelancers to create for them. Websites and online advertising need graphic design services as well. Even if your expertise is only in design, offer the works for potential clients, including the editorial creation and the printing and even mailing of the final piece. Computer Training If you are proficient in both Mac and PC, you should offer training in both types of computers. You could probably make a living helping seniors learn how to use the internet and e-mail to keep in touch with their loved ones, who are now commonly spread around the country. Err on the side of caution in this business. People do not want to know all the details about what makes a computer work. If you overload them with information from the beginning by explaining bits, bytes, and megapixels, they will stick to their paper and pencil forever.

Financial Planner To start, you should go through the certification process so that you can label yourself a CFP (Certified Financial Planner). Your certificate shows that you have expertise and credibility, and this differentiation will help people choose you as their financial planner.
Marketing Copy Writer If you can write copy that gets people excited about purchasing what your client has to sell, you can make good money in this business. Unless you are highly experienced from working in the copywriting field, take a course. There are online courses or classes at community colleges and universities that can give you a leg up in getting savvy at writing copy for brochures, catalogs, advertising and, of course, marketing copy for the web.
Jewellery Making There are many different ways of getting into the jewellery business and many different types of materials with which you can work. Working in metal will probably require the most in the way of specific tools. You need to be able to heat the metal to manipulate it, and you need metalworking tools to cut and engrave it. But there are many other materials that you can work with to make jewelry--glass, plastic, beads, feathers, even wood, to name just a few.

Photographer Making money as a photographer can be done in a number of different ways. You can specialize in one area, the most common being weddings. There are niches you can explore for photography: portraits of people and their pets, families, and homes; photographs of holiday events, birthday parties or Christmas cards; the possibilities are endless.
Desktop Publisher You can use desktop publishing software to create newsletters, magazines, books or even marketing materials. You can create the content for your desktop publications, or you can pay a writer to create the content for you. Alternatively, you can advertise your desktop publishing services to design and create newsletters and books for others with their content.
Appliance Repair Every household has a number of appliances, large and small. You can work on your own or on contract with appliance stores to cover their warranty service calls--or, best of all, you can do some of each. Plan to start slow and build your customer base on recommendations and referrals based on work well done. Consider developing relationships with contractors to be the go-to person to install appliances in newly constructed houses.
Herbal Farm Stand You need to decide whether you will sell your herbs as live plants, picked or cut in bunches and packed, or dried. If you plan to market to cooks instead of gardeners, you will want to sell your herbs either fresh cut and packed in sealed bags, or dried and sold in baggies. You can also consider a "pickyour-own" arrangement; however, be aware that herbs are more delicate than most P.Y.O products. You may save your garden a lot of strife and your plants a lot of wear and tear if you do the picking.
Hairstylist Hairstyling is a popular business that can be quite lucrative. Generally a home based hairstylist business is likely to be started by someone who has already has a cosmetology career and wants a change. If you already have your cosmetology training and license, and loads of experience under your belt working in a hairstyling salon, you probably have a following that will follow you right home without any hesitation.
Electronics Repair This business is similar to the computer repair business, but you will take on all sorts of electronic equipment besides just computers. With smaller electronics, you will need to be prepared to have customers bring their repair projects to you, as you would have difficulty recovering the cost of driving around picking up broken equipment and returning it. You may also want to encourage people to give you their old electronics so you can use them for parts.
Website Developer Many courses exist (many of which, logically, are offered online) where you can learn the language of website creation and can learn about the details, like how to set up shopping cart systems, security concerns, etc. You will, of course, need to learn about each company you design for. What is the atmosphere of the company that you need to reflect in the website design--is it wild and contemporary, meaning brilliant colors and fun graphics? Or will more classic colors like black, navy blue and maroon be more appropriate?

ON’T LET THE FUTURE COME TO YOU BY CHANCE. Tomorrow is definite whether you plan for it. Therefore, never allow it meet you unprepared. Your future expectations is by your current action, making success or failure predictable. Without a conscious preparation, the future will become a threat to you. Use these seven nuggets to create the tomorrow of your dream: #1. Wake up everyday with determination so you can end up with satisfaction: Always jump out of bed in a celebratory mood. If there is no hope for the future, it is because there is no power in the present. #2. Make contacts that will stretch your vision: As soon as you get up, make contact that will stretch your vision and enable you see clearly. The first of such contacts should be God, then family and friends. Always give your friends a call. Never forget that people are your greatest asset. #3. Warm the engine: It is necessary to warm the car before embarking on your journey. You do this by reading the word of God, singing, meditating and carrying out other daily routine. Always get a fresh dose of love everyday. Your tank of love should be full always. #4. Connect with people: Make sure your bank of goodwill is always in credit. There should always be people you are calling or meeting faceto-face to wish them well; people you are praying for and people you are helping. people, be weak for the purpose of repentance and asking for forgiveness. #5. Look for opportunities for service: Deliberately look for and jump at every opportunity to serve. Life is like tennis: the one who can serve the best seldom lose. #6. Go formless: Oliver Wendell Holmes instructed: “Know the rules but also know the exceptions well” Young men know the rules but old people know the exceptions. Add the virtues of age to the quality you have as a youth. The zeal of youth is good but you need to borrow the discretion and patience of old age. Li Zhu, the greatest Chinese general said that the greatest army is one that is formless unpredictable. The best way of being formless is through humility. As a young person, you are strong but you need to add the weakness of old age. There are times you will need to pretend to be weak and foolish. One way to defeat the enemy is to appear before him as weak to make him proud. This is because any battle fought with pride will fail. Add discretion and patience to your drive. Add insight to your inquisitiveness. Apply judgement BULLETPOINT to your talent. Add willingness to learn to your education. Always seek opportunity to increase jump at in wisdom. every #7. Be gold minded but silver tinted: Have gold as your goal and refuse to be distracted. If you are pursuing an elephant, don’t let cockroaches and rats distract you! Dream big but never be too big to start small. Begin with what you have where you are! </>

10 Laws of Social Media Marketing hese 10 social media fundamentals will help you leverage the power of content and social media marketing:
1. The Law of Listening: Success with social media and content marketing requires more listening and less talking. Read your target audience's online content and join discussions to learn what's important to them. Only then can you create content and spark conversations that add value rather than clutter to their lives. 2. The Law of Focus: It's better to specialize than to be a jack-of-all-trades. A highly-focused social media and content marketing strategy intended to build a strong brand has a better chance for success than a broad strategy that attempts to be all things to all people. 3. The Law of Quality: Quality trumps quantity. It's better to have 1,000 online connections who read, share and talk about your content with their own audiences than 10,000 connections who disappear after connecting with you the first time. 4. The Law of Patience: Social media and content marketing success doesn't happen overnight. While it's possible to catch lightning in a bottle, it's far more likely that you'll need to commit to the long haul to achieve results.
Sites to browse
finding the online influencers in your market who have quality audiences and are likely to be interested in your products, services and business. Connect with those people and work to build relationships with them. If you get on their radar as an authoritative, interesting source of useful information, they might share your content with their own followers, which could put you and your business in front of a huge new audience. 7. The Law of Value: If you spend all your time on the social Web directly promoting your products and services, people will stop listening. You must add value to the conversation. Focus less on conversions and more on creating amazing content and developing relationships with online influencers. In time, those people will become a powerful catalyst for word-of-mouth marketing for your business. 8. The Law of Acknowledgment: You wouldn't ignore someone who reaches out to you in person so don't ignore them online. Building relationships is one of the most important parts of social media marketing success, so always acknowledge every person who reaches out to you. 9. The Law of Accessibility: Don't publish your content and then disappear. Be available to your audience. That means you need to consistently publish content and participate in conversations. Followers online can be fickle and they won't hesitate to replace you if you disappear for weeks or months. 10. The Law of Reciprocity: You can't expect others to share your content and talk about you if you don't do the same for them. So, a portion of the time you spend on social media should be focused on sharing and talking about content published by others.
6. The Law of Influence: Spend time
Source: Entrepreneur.com
lifehacks
5. The Law of Compounding: If you publish amazing, quality content and work to build your online audience of quality followers, they'll share it with their own audiences on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, their own blogs and more. This sharing and discussing of your content opens new entry points for search engines like Google to find it in keyword searches. Those entry points could grow to hundreds or thousands of more potential ways for people to find you online.
