Exxaro, Suid-Afrika se grootste mynmaatskappy in swart besit, het onlangs bevestig hy is by metaanprospektering in Botswana betrokke.

Vir meer inligting oor die vrywilligersprogram of die Relay for Life bel Chrisna Roos by 054-332-4937.

– prof. Anne Rasa

Kirri wys gesig Anena Burger

KALAHARI BULLETIN, DONDERDAG 19 DESEMBER 2013

God se tempo is “WAG”.

My oupa het as subredakteur by

My dogter sing en doen kreatiewe dagboeke oor haar lewe. So hier en daar skryf sy iets (meestal in Engels) wat my mond laat oophang.

Hotazel betrokke was. “Dit is so ongelooflik tragies.

NC gets its 1st yogi bar WAKABERRY, the much-loved and massively successful self-serve frozen yoghurt brand, opened their first store in Upington (and in the Northern Cape) on Friday. The froyo brand was the first self-serve frozen yoghurt bar on the South African market and have always prided themselves on making sure their yoghurt is 100% real dairy (no powdered yoghurt for these yoghurt fundis), from some of the best organic dairy farms in the country. Customers, or Wakafans as they are affectionately known, can swirl their own yoghurt and then dispense their own toppings from the famous and sumptuous Wakaberry toppings bars. There are over 50 froyo flavours to choose from and these are rotated weekly in each store. Wakafans can log onto the Wakaberry website or mobi site to see what flavours their local store is swirling that week. “Wakaberry has always been about more than just really good frozen yoghurt,” says co-founder Michele Fourie. “We have striven to create a brand that inspires loyalty and fun. Our stores are destinations where families and friends come to enjoy a top notch product at their leisure, in their own way.” Wakaberry Upington opened on Friday 13 December at 09:00 and the first 50 people through the doors received Wakaberry prize packs. This opening took their store count to 31 locations in seven provinces.

Roads upgraded

KUMBA IRON ORE’S Sishen Mine invested R17 million in the Gamagara Municipality’s project to upgrade the Hendrik van Eck Road between Ian Fleming Road and the R380 (Dibeng Road) intersections. This project included the widening of Hendrik van Eck Road, a bell mouth at the R380 intersection, paving on the side of the road, new street light poles, a bus bay and median islands. The road surface has also been overlaid with a pre-mix tar surface. This project also sees Kathu’s first traffic lights come to life. There is a set of traffic lights at the Ian Fleming intersection, the R380 intersection and at the entrance to the mine. “The traffic lights will be operational after the demarcation of the roads is completed. The project was delayed by the recent rain but should be completed by 20 December, weather permitting. Please take note of this and adhere to traffic regulations concerning traffic lights. “We are right on target and within budget on this construction project,” says Hendrik Smit, civil engineer at the Sishen Mine’s Small Business Hub and project manager of the Hendrik van Eck Road construction. “Kumba is proud to be an investor and partner in this project to ensure a safer road for our employees and stakeholders. “On behalf of the mine and the municipality I would like to thank the road users for their patience and co-operation during this construction time,” concluded Smit.

LONG queues formed in front of Wakaberry on Friday when the first Wakaberry in the Northern Cape had opened in the Kalahari Mall.

Moenie diere vergeet Lizette Slabber

Kalmeermiddels is by veeartse beskikbaar. Rig navrae aan Minders by 079-9863635.

Foto: Verskaf

KALAHARI BULLETIN, DONDERDAG 19 DESEMBER 2013

Rig verdere navrae aan September by 054-337-3442.

Drive safely Lizette Slabber SO many Kalahari Bulletin readers will be on the road over the Christmas season visiting family or going on holiday. Bulletin asked Kia Motors Upington for advice on making sure your car is roadworthy and your family safe while driving long distances on very busy roads. Ismail Karrim, regional manager of Kia and a father himself, suggests that motorists carry out a quick 101-point check at an authorised dealer before departing. This will ensure all basic items such as brakes, wipers, tyres, all engine fluids and all electrical components as well as all safety items are checked for the long trip. “I would always get my car booked in at an authorised car dealer for the safety check . . . be it for a trip more than 100 km or a 1 000 km. The lives of my family as well as other motorists and pedestrians are most important,” he said. When you are on the road, especially during a long journey, plan breaks in between and make sure those breaks are longer than 15 minutes. When you stop at a filling station, check basic items such as the tyre pressure, wipers and all engine fluids. Make sure your vehicle is not overloaded and try to use the given capacity of loading for your vehicle. When towing a trailer or caravan make sure to check all towing accessories are in working order and the trailers and caravans must be roadworthy and licensed. “Please remember the baby seat and make sure all passengers are wearing their seatbelts at all times,” he added. We wish all our readers a safe journey.

Beskerm teen son Lizette Slabber SON, see en Kersfees.

Foto: Lizette Slabber

MAZURKASTRAAT is weer prentjie mooi. Foto: Lizette Slabber

GEVULDE SKAAPROL Vulsel: Braai 2 gekapte uie in 30 ml olyfolie.

Verhit saam in oondpan: 125 ml wit wyn 125 ml water 1½ teelepel sout 30 ml olyfolie 4 knoffelhuisies 2 lourierblare 1 kaneelstokkie Plaas vleis in warm mengsel – bedek met tinfoelie. Bak in warm oond teen 200 ºC. Meng: 200 g volroom-jogurt 50 g suiker gelatienmengsel

Vou in: 150 g room, geklits Kompot: Kook saam: 50 ml wit wyn 50 ml water 30 ml suiker ½ kaneelstokkie 250g bessies Roer 5 ml mielieblompasta by en kook. Verwyder kaneelstokkie en voeg 250 g bessies by. Verhit totdat dit kook en laat afkoel. Bedien lepelsvol mousse met kompot. MOSTERDVRUGTE Kook saam: 1 kg gemengde vrugte, bedek met water 30 ml heuning 1 suurlemoen se skil en sap Kook 30 minute oor matige hitte en dreineer. Laat heeltemal afkoel. Voeg by: 60 ml fyngemaalde mosterdsade by. Laat afkoel en voeg by vrugte. Bottel.

alkant bruin.

Hul seënwens aan almal is: “Wishing you the wings to fly, the vision to dream wildly, the heart to love deeply and the spirit to embrace the beauty in life. Wishing you not just a smile, but laughter – not just happiness but pure joy – not just wealth, but Heaven’s Treasure and not just silence but God’s Peace in your heart.”

CHRISTIAAN MARITZ is net so ’n klein bietjie bekommerd.
