I’ve walked past BambuTwo three times without going in. Why? There’s no logical answer. I didn’t know what I was missing. First i m p re s s i o n : swanky. The chic lounge vibe and jazzy tunes put a smile on my face and had my hubby dancing his way to the bar. Bartender Tai Stewart greeted us immediately and filled us in on the happy hour specials. Does it get any better than $3.50 martinis? Stewart explained that BambuTwo uses freshsqueezed citrus juices in a number of their drinks, like the Razzle Dazzle and the Sexy Bull, both of which are on the happy hour menu. The Razzle Dazzle, a combination of raspberry vodka, sweet and sour, fresh lime juice and raspberry liquer is a sweet-tart treat.

The Sexy Bull is mixology black magic. There’s no way a concoction of vodka, peach schnapps, cranberry juice, fresh orange juice and Red Bull should taste amazing (and a lot like melon), but it does. Happy hour runs from 4-7p.m. daily. Stick around afterward for live music on Wednesday and Thursday, or a DJ Friday and Saturday. There’s a late night happy hour from 11p.m.-2a.m. from Monday-Thursday. Thursday nights are also College Nights where students and faculty with a valid ID get happy hour prices all night. “We’re a great place to start the night,” Stewart said. Get a nice, fresh cocktail when you can taste and enjoy it.” Soak up the chic lounge vibe and expertly crafted cocktails for long enough, and you might end the night at BambuTwo as well. Cheers!

HOPPY HOUR IN CHINATOWN START
It’s another late Thursday afternoon, and you don’t have any classes tomorrow morning. You have four full days to finish your homework but not a thing to do in the meantime. Satisfy your desire for adventure in Chinatown, where you can dig real art and culture, all on a budget. PRO TIP: Arrive before 9p.m. and pay no cover anywhere.
BAMBUTWO
Work your way down the street to Mercury Bar for some local flavor. Mercury Bar has live rock bands, and they even have a live karaoke crew who will play your favorite songs while you jam along. The last time I was there, they had $4 Sailor Jerry, which is always solid.
Meander over to SoHo, right around the corner. SoHo is great because they have two different rooms. One DJ will spin hip-hop, while in the other room the DJ will drop some electronic. SoHo also has a lot of themed events and usually gets cracking after 11p.m.
INDIGO Take a right down Hotel Street and head toward the main drag, where you will find Indigo’s, which has the longest running open mic comedy stand up in Hawai‘i every Wednesday at 8p.m. A bit further south is Hank’s Cafe and the Dragon Upstairs, which have great bartenders and local music.

You can always finish your night in style at Bar 35, which has more than 200 beers and some of the best musical acts in Honolulu.
With so much variety every day of the week, put your UPass to use and check out all that Chinatown has to offer! You’ll be glad you did.

PRIYA SINGH ALOHA NIGHTS DIRECTOR WOMEN: 1. Lips: When women get aroused, our mouths get dry, making us lick our lips. If he sees you doing this, he’ll instantaneously think you’re a sexual dynamo. 2. Crossing legs: Lean into your man but not too much. Position your body so that your legs are crossed and facing him. This will signal that you’re willing to get to know him. Showing some leg is a subtle gesture that your man will find ultra sexy. 3. Locked eyes: Pump up your mascara to draw attention to your piercing eyes. If you see someone
you like, hold his gaze for three seconds. Accompany this gaze with a smile and flutter your eyelashes. He’ll be over talking to you in the next 20 minutes.
MEN: 1. The Smirk: When a man’s interest is peaked, he does a half-smile or smirk. Women will notice this half-gesture and accept the challenge.
4. Laughing: Be natural. A woman who puts on a sultry persona will instantly kill his interest. Quit the sex pout, and go with a genuine smile. This will make him comfortable and willing to open up. 5. Hair: Time to bust out the straightening iron. Hair is one of the first things a man will notice about you. It’s a fact that every man wants to run his fingers through luscious locks.
2. Locked eyes: When on the prowl, gloss over the crowd until you find a woman you are attracted to. When you do see a beauty, hold her gaze for three seconds and do the half-smirk.
4. Positioning chest and shoulders: Once you’re talking to her, show her you’re interested by positioning your chest and shoulders towards her. You can sip your beer and look around the bar, but don’t change your stance. This will make her feel secure and is a major turn-on.

This one really depends on what kind of raver you are and how hard you like to go. A lot of hard-core ravers rock fur hoods and skinny jeans. Remember that at a rave, practically anything goes, so don’t hold back. A simple tank or jersey and jean combo never fails. Remember that you are most likely going to get really sweaty, so be prepared to either lose the shirt or embrace the grime. Accessories like a hat or shades can be a definite must. If you’re planning on dancing, know that your kicks will definitely get scuffed so leave your shiny Air Force Ones at home. A pair of Vans is a solid choice, and their bottoms make an ideal surface to get your shuffle on.

Obviously, you have to look fly. Everyone is rocking their best looks, the girls look smoking hot and you gotta be sharp. A solid-color tee can look really good, grab a black or white one. Collared shirts are sometimes required, so know before you go. Definitely no over-thetop graphic tees, and remember that hats are almost never allowed. Always wear dark jeans, never shorts. Beware of your kicks getting stepped on by rowdy clubbers.

When you’re out with friends, you want to feel comfortable yet mobile, sleek yet agile. But mostly you just want to look good without too much effort. If you’re planning on rocking a hat, make sure it’s a nice fitted hat or a clean snap back (not the one you go skating in every day). Any button up will do, as long as it’s not too grungy. Clean laundry is a good standard to go by. This goes without saying, but no tanks, shorts or slippers.

ALOHA NIGHTS
The really sweet thing about dive bars is that you can wear almost anything. Probably wouldn’t recommend wearing a tank and slippers, but if you can get away with it, then go for it. Otherwise shorts and a tee are definitely accepted as well as a hat if you feel so compelled. Jeans or khakis always look good, but don’t get stressed out over this one.
