Jasper Johns Exhibition The American artist Jasper Johns erupted onto the art scene in the 1950s. Today, in his 90s, the artist is still creating art that resonances with new audiences.
Mind/Mirror Jasper Johns’ exhibition, Mind/Mirror was held at the Whitney Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art earlier in 2022. The sheer size of the exhibition necessitated two venues to host it simultaneously. Mind/Mirror is Johns’ most comprehensive and extensive solo show to date. The dual nature of the exhibition reflected the concepts of mirroring, or doubling, that have been of long-standing interest to the artist. Arranged in chronological order, each of the two halves of the exhibition were designed to echo the other, comprising pieces of iconic artwork as well as works that were being shown for the first time.
Inspiring Other Artists Movements such as Pop Art, Conceptualism and Minimalism have all been influenced by Johns’ work, and his art continues to inspire a new generation of artists today.
