Getting Started with Photoshop CC Introduction Adobe Photoshop CC is a graphics design and image enhancement program that runs seamlessly on both Windows and Macintosh platforms. Photoshop CC is a standalone program, but it's also part of Adobe's Creative Cloud of professional programs that work together to help you create designs in print, on the web, or on mobile devices. Adobe Creative Cloud also includes additional Adobe services and tools-such as Bridge, Camera Raw plug-in, Media Encoder, Extension Manager, Exchange, and ExtendScriptToolkit-to help you manage and work with files. With Photoshop CC, you can sign in to Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe.com with your Adobe ID to access online cloud services. If you don't have an account, you can create one. Creative Cloud is a membership-based cloud solution that allows you to access and down load Adobe software programs, personal files, tutorial videos, and sync program settings online from any computer or device. A free membership is available with entry level features. A monthly cost-based membership adds down loads and more features. You can go to www.creativecloud. cam for more details.

Using Photoshop in 32-bit and 64-bit Mode The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer CPU processes information. A 64-bit system handles large amounts of RAM more effectively than 32-bit systems. Photoshop in 64-bit mode takes advantage of more than 4 GB of RAM when needed, instead of swapping out to the hard drive, which increases performance. When you install a 64-bit version of Photoshop on a 64-bit system and version of Windows 7 or 8, you can use Photoshop in 32-bit or 64-bit modes. When you install a 32-bit version of Photoshop, you can only use it in 32-bit mode. For Windows on a 64-bit system, Photoshop CC installs 32-bit and 64-bit versions with shortcuts on the Start menu, where you can start either one. For the Mac (10.6 or 10.7), Photoshop CC only installs one version in 64-bit mode.
