Austria Train Tour 10 Days/9 Nights

Embark on an adventure through Austria with this 9 night independent train tour! Stay in hand picked amazing accommodations including a castle hotel and a five star property in Vienna. Visit Melk Abbey, the wine producing Wachau region, Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna! Day 1, Durnstein: Arrive at the Vienna airport and make your way to nearby Durnstein. Durnstein is a small town nestled on the banks of the Danube river in the Wachau region, a well-known wine growing area. Here you will stay in a romantic castle hotel in medieval walls 3 generations of the Thiery family have pampered guests since 1884. Medieval walls, regional artworks and a wonderful location give this house a unique character. In the refectory with its open fire, the romantic terrace restaurant overlooking the Danube, or the idyllic garden with swimming pool - a sense of peace greets you everywhere. Melk Abbey is a Benedictine abbey on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube river.The abbey contains the tomb of Saint Coloman of Stockerau and the remains of several members of the House of Babenberg, Austria's first ruling dynasty. Day 7-9, Vienna: Today, make your way to Vienna. Vienna, Austria’s capital, lies in the country’s east on the Danube River. Its artistic and intellectual legacy was shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. The city is also known for its Imperial palaces, including Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence. In the MuseumsQuartier district, historic and contemporary buildings display works by Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt and other artists. Vienna is your base for the next three nights.

Day 10, DEPARTURE: After breakfast at your hotel, early afternoon departure from Vienna airport.
