Hundreds of children waved signs and screamed their hellos as the soldiers jogged past the front of St. Isidore Catholic School
on Thursday, May 5. Some of the elementary school students waved Canadian flags, others held up posters that read “Run for Military Families,” “Go Military,” and “Thank you troops. You rock.” It was the first stop on the fourth-annual Run for Military Families, a two-day fundraiser for the families of soldiers serving overseas. “When you are there to run and you’re
tired and you come to a school like this you’re re-energized,” said Eric BlenKarn, one of the runners who stopped at St. Isidore. “The school just revitalizes you.” The runners took time to slap high fives with the cheering students, who lined up along the bus lane in front of the school to greet them.
