ARCHITECTURE AS A SPECTACLE. The form of the building is an reflection of its function.
site : A prototype in the city(mumbai) The project was to explore conditions of borrowed pleasures. The students had to explore how an object/intervention/condition can be dependant on the other for it mere existence. my concept of borrowed was a condition which suprises its use , every time viewed from a different angle. my project was a design of a prototype which had the main function of an bus stop with borrowed functions reflecting the site such as a place to rest and a place for vendors to sell and store their goods.
A conceptual series of drawings studying the object(Spectacle)from all possible angles of a camera.

SEM 4 ARCHITECTURE AS A PROCESS TO ARRIVE AT THE FORM. Architecture indeed isn’t about the finality. The form should be a resultant rather than an object. It should generate from the surroundings and the form follows function.
Majuli, a river island in Assam ,a site intensely rich in stories, history and context, which had an impending future of virtual extinction . each year the island is devoured and returned and creates a perpetual transient landscape. The satras or the vaishnavite caste monastries followers of lord krishna.

DETAILED DOCUMENTATION OF THE LANDSCAPE
2I14
The AUNIATI satra is planned in such a way that it forms a perfect square around the central namghar, which is the only structure in the satra made of steel. situated around the periphery of the square are the houses connected by a common linear verandah in the front and informal backyards behind. Beyond the houses lie the fields ,hence farming forms the main occupation of the people Four large man made lakes seprate the tral namghar from the houses ,the soil out from the lake was used to create bund and raise the site to avoid flooding the
cendugwalls satra.
Dance and music are form part of daily activities of the satra. The commencement of prayers is marked by beating of the drums resonating in the entire satra

BUILDING AN APPROPRAITE SYNTAX language of architecture is much more than just visual ,it occupies volume, impacts the surroundings and has a third dimension. the plan is a composition of open v/s covered publicspaces and its linkages, the placement of the embassy functions are based on the secrecy/publicness of the function ,it is spread across 4 plinths ,the instances of green spaces is also a indirect derivative of planning of indian forts
site : galle fort, colombo, sri lanka A Public building representing a foreign country portraying the culture and the relationship between the two countries. Hence the programme is an Indian High Commision projecting the Indianness towards the people of Sri Lanka.
LANGUAGE OF PLINTH AND PAVILLIONS REFERING THE INDIAN FORTS
Methodology: the final form of the building is not the result of an extrusion of the plan but reverse, that the plan is the manifestation of an idea of the building.
N ROAD LVL PLAN
LAKE LVL PLAN The existing section of site helped me create a an entrance which hides the secretive functions of the embassy and doesnot look imposive from the street,a concept similar to the typology of indian forts, while the inner section explores the materialistic nature of indian forts where the embassy sits heavy stone base with light glass facade on the upper part. PROGRAMME:1. CHANCERY 2.HIGH COMMISNERS RESIDENCE 3.CULTURAL ANNEXE. STRUCTURE: R.C.C framed structure;brick walls with terracotta clay tiles cladding.

Space ia a bare physical occurrence until it is rendered liveable. Once it becomes inhabited, all the relations affecting the people on social, economic and religious grounds in their daily lives, along with the natural topography of that region, become key factors that define its spatial quality. The kongaon region along the edge of Ulhas River in bhiwandi is characterised by variety of distinctive features, however nothing in particular. Beginning with the historic features like the chimneys and remains of the brick kilns , few small scale works like ship repair units and the paver block making unit. . In a more or less self-contained condition, the inhabitants of this area have developed a sustainable lifestyle for themselves this is evident by the presence of a large number of tabelas and other cattle sheds The proposal made by the MMRDA is inevitable, and to an extent, unavoidable owing to the growing populace and the need for development. However, I believe, their response to the river edge is that of denial.By raising the ground to a good 20 ft, they are raising the back to the river. The manifesto intentions are not to romanticise the existing fabric nor glorify the upcoming township. It is more to create a series of plug-ins which become a mediator between these two distinct edges, thereby giving a form to this negotiated space.

COURTYARDS & CONNECTING CORRIDORS
site : Kongaon,Bhiwandi The Kongaon region along the edge of river Ulhas has a proposal made the MMRDA,of a upcoming township along the entire stretch ignorning exisiting conditions. The project aims to integrate the two visions and generates a system of Apprencticeship. the master plans consists of a scheme to preserve the waters edge . An institution can be a space where people of various kinds come together for a same goal, exchanging ideas ,concepts and cultures.Hence the programme is of an Vocational institute(Agriculture) which bridges a symbiotic link between exisitng and the future. ARCHITECTURE AS AN URBAN RESPONSE architecture can be used as an oppurtunity for urban change and contribute to the public spaces of the city. site : Gulmohar road , JVPD,Mumabai
The site is well connected to a growing no. of higher (specialist) education institutes in its close vicinity. It also offers the potential to contribute positively to a new network of open spaces that are being planned and executed by local citizen groups along the existing canal

BOOM OF GLASS FACADE AN IDENTITY
MUMBAI.......PRESENT
RELATIONSHIP TO STREET? CONTEXT???
MUMBAI.....FUTURE????
The dissertation is a study of the public-private interface between the street and the building in an urban landscape. It is a critique of the new developments been carried out in this city. The current trend of construction has resulted in creating isolated towers which lack coherence to the surroundings. The architectural response completely denys an urban response. MUMBAI TODAY NEEDS SITE SPECIFIC DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS.

FACADE
“Time present and time past are both perhaps present in time future. As a result of globalisation the identity and character of a place is being annihilated /dissolved into an urban form which has a global identity, Mumbai is one such example. The Floor space index (F.S.I) concept introduced in the 1964 development plan was based on the holding capacity of different localities unlike earlier approach where rules were formulated based on the needs of the area. This kind of macro level approach introduced to ease the process of administration has dissolved the architecturally significant neighbourhoods. It not only negates the character of the place but forces one to fall prey for this inevitable process.
