FOLLY OF THE HELIX OF GERM SS / 2011
FOLLY IN THE PARK
This was an design studio to make an architecture, using natural forms made by swarm. To use those complex forms, we did an abstraction of them by GhPython (directed by Yusuke Obuchi, and Sota Ichikawa[dNA]). I used a kind of germ called "Cellular Slime Molds" as a swarm. Those germ make an aggregation from an amoeba, and they make a signal in spiral form. The
reason why the gern make such a shape of signal is that spiral is very strong shape which can be made in bad condition such as a lot of obstacles, or difference of elevation. Spiral shape is also used by many architects such as Le Corbusier. I made cellular automata to reproduct Cellular Slime Molds in a computer, and used the shape as the folly of the park.

ROOF ON THE SHOPPING STREET
Design of roof on the shopping street, which moves automatically. As a power, I used a thermo-element. This is a small piston which have a kind of oil inside, and by the thermal expansion, the piston moves. This is already used in the car engine and ventilator. By using this device on the hinge of the moving plates, those plates moves automatically by the change of the temperature.
Thermo-element
The moving temperature can be changed with each thermo-element, therefore I can move plates differently in the same temperature. In addition, I use two kinds of plates which have a different renectivity by location. By those design, I created one street, which have a different brightness and atmosphere by location, time, and season.

HOUSE BY "GRASS" SS / 2012
EXPERIMENTAL HOUSE
The purpose of this design studio was making new device with Arduino. So I made a device which moves by air. The device is made by paper and wire. It is inflated by air, and returns to its original shape by the wire when the air stops. The air is controled by the bulb connected to Arduino. I designed one housing by the device. That is used in two ways, one is as
partition, and the other is as a blind. The partition moves by sensoring the position of the person, and by that impression of the house changes place to place. The new point of the device and the housing is showing possibility of contoroling the space, by this weak paper-made device and Arduino.

GARDEN OF THE HOUSE, HOUSE OF THE WALL AW / 2011
RESIDENCE
The growing forest of the shrine absorb surrounding houses, as if to recover its territory 100 years ago. Woods grow in the place which house stood in. We live between those woods. Remenbering people who lived. Respecting woods. This is a project about apartment in the residencial area. A lot of houses are surrounding the site, and there is also an forest of the shrine next to the site.
Site of the original building will be the courtyard of the new residence. The base of former housing is left as it is, and it is used as a partition or a bench in the garden. Tree is planted as a symbol of the former housing. The original exterior materials is used as the exterior of the new building. People live not in each house, but between the woods, more openly, more comfortably.
HANO BOOKSTORE & CAFE SS / 2011
BOOKCAFE IN THE CAMPUS
Hano bookstore & cafe is a "bookcafe" on the campus of my University. Bookcafe is one type of cafe, which is combined with bookstore. Guests can pick up a book and read in a cafe, and also can buy in the cafe. In response to this program, I put five small bookstores in the entire site. Each small bookstore is managed by one manager, and customers can enjoy
original lineup of books different by each manager. There are a lot of gap and voids between stores, and there are some roofs difference of elevation, and some trees in the site. People can enjoy reading each diferrent places made by those design.
