WEEK 6 READING: SURFACES THAT CAN BE BUILT FROM PAPER IN ARCHITECTURAL GEOMETRY Question 1: What are the three elementary types of developable surfaces? Provide a brief description.

The three elementary tyores of developable surfaces are cones, cylinders and tangent surfaces. All of them are know to compose of ruled surfaces. A cylinder surface is formed by a families of parallel line. A Cone is fromed by a profile curve and a vertex point. Tangent surfaces of space curves are made from the use of polygon.

Question 2: Why is the understanding of developable surface critical in the understanding of architectural geometry? Choose one precedent from Research/Precedents tab on LMS as an example for your discussion. (Maximum 100 words) The understanding of developable surface is critical in the understanding of architectural geometry because all archtecture are constructed based on the use of developable surfaces. This can be seen in the Diamond House by John Hejeduk which use the development of diamond shapes.

WEEK 7 READING: DIGITAL FABRICATION Complete your reading before attempting these questions:

Question 1: What is digital fabrication and how does it change the understanding of two dimensional representation? (Maximum 100 words) Digital fabrication plays a big role in design revoluation controlled by the use of computer tools espeically CAD programmes. The purpose is to narrowing the gap between virtual model and physical artifact. It makes the 2 domensional representation more accessible and easier in 3 deminsional object in order to test and understand the design before commiting the final stege.

Question 2: Suggest two reasons why folding is used extensively in the formal expression of building design? (Maximum 100 words)

Folding is used extensively in the formal expression of building desgn because it developes from two dimensional representation to three dimensional model in order to define building construction elements - height, angles, surfeace areas, volumes by using less material (being economical). Also,it gaines stiffness and rigidity, and able to be self supporting in most cases.

EXPLORING 3D PANELLING

There are 5 dominant modules applied to the panel. They are attracted to a diagonal line so the ones that are closed to the diagonal line have the highest height symoblising the urban city where most skyscappers stand at the centre of the town.
