EDUCATE. EMPOWER. TRANSFORM

About Us Empowering Young Prospects (EYP) is a youth organisation which empowers, educates, encourages and inspires young people to reach their full, intellectual, physical and spiritual potential. EYP designs and delivers crime prevention services aimed specifically at 13-21 year olds who have behavioural problems and may be considered hard to reach or at risk of offending. We also facilitate behavioural and crime intervention workshops as well as delivering diversity and personal development training, rehabilitation and resettlement needs.

Our Mission Our mission is to deter young people from crime by empowering them to explore, understand and change negative attitudes that may lead to anti-social and offending behaviour. EYP will also aid exoffenders with their rehabilitation and resettlement needs. We aim to encourage young people who are members of gangs to look at their current lifestyle and to make positive changes through factual and experiential information sharing. We aim to encourage young people who are members of gangs to look at their current lifestyle and to make positive changes through factual and experiential information sharing. Our facilitators educate young people about the consequences of substance misuse, anti-social behavior, joining gangs, crime and the law.

EYP never seeks to work or reach out to young people independently or in isolation of other professionals. Below are some examples of partners we seek to work closely with. We believe that partnerships have a huge potential and offer many opportunities for supporting and enabling good practice with young people and their families.

- Probation service - Social services - Drugs and Alcohol agencies - Youth offending teams - Local communities - Local councils - The Courts - Home Office - Prison governors - Job Centres

TARGET GROUPS We provide workshops, training & open discussions for the following:  Young people who are being excluded from schools for fixed terms or permanently.  Young people who are already involved in the criminal justice system.  Gangs who are terrorising their local communities.  Young people whom others may influence through peer pressure.  Young people who are dependent on drugs and alcohol.

“Ex-offenders and gang leaders have an advantage because they have inhabited the world which many young people aspire to be a part of. Having ‘walked the walk’, they can empathize with young people who are craving for respect and status.”

Unorthodox Training Out of the box facilitation

EYP has a multi-cultural and diverse team of employees from different social backgrounds and life experiences. Our facilitators include people from various backgrounds with honours degrees and master’s degrees, reformed offenders, exgang leaders and those with knowledge of substance misuse. EYP promotes diversity and equality and has ensured that all staff has professional knowledge within their field as well as life experiences which can be drawn upon to effectively deliver our services All members of EYP staff share the same aspirations and visions to achieve the common goals of working to help young people achieve their full, intellectual, physical and spiritual potential and to recognize and uphold their social responsibilities as law -abiding citizens and members of their local community.

EYP Testimonials ‘The training we did was relevant and impacting. I can see how it will be useful for me in my everyday life’. ‘The thing with EYP is that they keep it real. Most of these types of courses can’t really relate to us but they were alright. I really liked it’. ‘I see things a bit differently now. I used to be angry all the time but now I understand how to deal with that a bit better. I think this kind of course will help a lot of young people like me’.
