(9 of 9)
- I think having two major projects due at the end is a bit much I think it should be one or the other not both. I was actually surprised by the work load in this class. At one point the instructor stated that she taught the class at Michigan State and that is why the assignments were a little more complicated. I think that students comming into this class should have taken a class where they learn lesson planning and classroom management. A lot of our assignments were on things we really were not prepared for. i felt in the dark about the assignments. - I studied hard in long. Everything was new to me. - the workload for this class was a lot, but it was useful -
I think the work load for this class was good. It wasn't too much to be overwhelming. Karen takes the time to make sure that everyone is getting the most from this class.
-
The workload was I believe perfect. There were many assignments but they were well spaced out and not so time consuming that they became overwhelming. The guidelines were clear which made the workload easier to handle. The final project has been a bit overwhelming. There is so much to do and the only portion of it that we have planned for is the

- lesson plan done earlier this month. The project itself is going to be very useful to me as a future teacher, but the workload was a bit too much to handle all at once. Very heavy work load, this class had the most work out of all my classes in even more then my 200 class. The good thing is students - know when assignments are due because everythings well prepared on a syllabus including due dates. Also this class requires students to view classrooms. - A lot of work for this class
Q15 - What did you like best about the course? Response Rate: 88.89%
(8 of 9)
- I liked learning about ways to integrate music into the general elementary classroom. - This class was very difficult for me but I enjoyed learning something new. I enjoyed the movement exercises the best. - the teacher's passion and insight This class, as opposed to MUS 185, gave a lot more ideas that I can actually use in a classroom. The music classes are VERY - intimidating and Karen does her best to not put people on the spot with singing, etc. We really appreciate that! Even adults don't like to be put on the spot ESPECIALLY when it comes to performing/singing. I liked all the interactions and the explanations from the teacher. The group work really helped me to get to know everyone and become more involved and willing to participate. It was also very easy to communicate with the teacher and it was a safe and comfortable environment. I enjoyed the learning environment and that it was not just listening to lectures and watching powerpoints. I really enjoyed this class and the amazing teaching styles, along with an amazing teacher =) -
A lot of important discussions. We were provided with several different ways to learn and several different ways to "come out of our shell"
The teacher allowed people to warm up on their own she never made anyone sing who didnt want to. Very excited about teaching - and did a great job in prepareing for someone who wants to become a teacher. There was valuable things taught such as how to write a lesson plan. - Getting advice and learning how to handle things in a classroom full of children
Q16 - What suggestions would you make for the improvement of the course? Response Rate: 66.67%
(6 of 9)
- workload spaced out more, or just lessen the workload all together. - Explaining word definition more clearly. - more time between classroom observations, and a 3rd observation if able. Not sure I liked the classroom we were in. We had a group of quieter students and that may play into it. I may suggest only having 1 music class observation. The 2 were rather close together and seemed rushed. Perhaps if you still kept 2 you can take some other - large project out and move the second observation to later in the semester. I like the creating a lesson plan, but maybe just have the day plan for the final project and not both of the final projects. Things get hectic at the end of the semester and it's really hard to do several large projects at the same time. -
Be careful with the workload. Remember, most of the students have more than one class. And the more stressed out a student is, the worse they are going to do on the work.
- Less of a work load especially for a 100 class.
