(4 of 5)
The workload for this course was pretty much what I expected it to be. Since the class required us to integrate music into the classroom; Dr Salvador built up the information in increments that made each assignment easier to understand than I - was expecting. I wouldn't adjust any of the assignments or the workload. I believe how she presented the course and how the assignments were constructed was well done. I was given a great opportunity with each assignment to test the knowledge I acquired through readings and lectures. - I thought the workload was appropriate and covered material I will definitely use in my future classroom. - The workload for this class was perfect. Not too much but enough. -
I think we were given a fair amount of work, but some of the assignments were difficult because the directions were not clear.
Q15 - What did you like best about the course? Response Rate: 80.00%
(4 of 5)
This course caught me by surprise, I imagined discussions and lectures. Dr Salvador created a very hands-on, activitybased class with plenty of opportunities to get the kids' point-of-view. It was fun; the class was quite small which I believe forced me to open up and express my opinions. A very dramatic turn from the standard hide-in-plain-site behind other students. This turned out to be a very good learning and development experience for me as a student. Final thought, this course, especially for elementary grade teachers is a benefit. Getting teachers to think outside the box to create different scaffolding to impart knowledge is key. Don't get rid of this class. I thought it was great that we got to act out our movements activity because it brought people together and sharing ideas - is important especially in the teaching world. Although it was nerve racking, I thought presenting the rote process was much better than just talking about it. - Learning about how to integrate music with other subjects. - I liked the hands on learning.
Q16 - What suggestions would you make for the improvement of the course? Response Rate: 60.00%
(3 of 5)
I found at times the length of the class periods to be a bit much. I could see this class doing well as a twice a week course. It would give the students more days with the professor instead of one day weekly. One big opportunity I wish we had was - to practice lessons with actual kids and Dr Salvador. Though she did afford us many opportunities to peer teach, an actual group of kids (10 or 12 something to put it all together in real world) would really add to the class. I do understand however, this kind of practical is good in theory yet difficult to execute. I wish there had been more information in the slides (maybe in notes section) explaining more of what the slides were - referencing. It was a little difficult to catch up on some of the material if absent even though I did the reading assignments
as well. I think more time should be focused on learning about lesson plans. Maybe create one together in class before venturing off to create our own. - Maybe that the class not be so long.
