Overall this class was ok. I personally feel as though we got more out of working with the 4 yr olds. I would focus more on that aspect of the class and ways to work with children. These are things that will be more usful in a job setting. As far as work load, I - think it was fair. I found it hard to follow at times what we did in class and it's relevance to the working with kids. It seemed as though we were taking 2 different classes at times. I think that Karen did a nice job, but at times I think she forgot this was a 100 level course and that we are not all music majors. She has very high standards. - the workload was excellent, i learned a great deal - the workload was fair, and clearly stated in syllubus - Their was a workload, but I enjoyed this course because we were given plenty of time to get our work done. Working with the 4yr olds was the best part of the class. It gave hands on experience that I feel is much more valuable than book work. I will remember more for actually doing activities than sitting in a room talking about theorists. Not that these theorists weren't importnant people, I just don't see the importance of them in a beginning music class. I think we spent way too much time on them.

i enjoyed the peer teaching assignment the most because we were able to witness th progression of our individual groups and i think we all have grown since day one

Touch on the theorists, don't spend as much time on them. Focus more on ways to work with the young kids. I realize that she wants "quality" music for the kids, but I also think it's important to remember that we're not all going to be music majors and that - exposing kids to a variety of music is what's important. I also think she needs to remember to be professional in her conversation with students and remember that something she may think is funny, may be offensive to someone else. I don't think it was done purposely, but I think it's something she needs to be aware of. Overall Karen seems to be a very p.c. person. -

more guide on final project. more opportunity to peer teach. specific things to look for while at practicum. maybe an additional test or some quizzes to help drill in the concepts
