STUDYING ONLINE AT THE IBA When you have been enrolled on one of the IBA’s online programmes, you will receive detailed information about what to do. Subsequently, you are a student at both the IBA and Leeds Beckett University with access to all their facilities. The e-Learning Platform Once enrolled, you will get access to an information module. On the official start date for the semester, you will see the modules that you are enrolled on appearing. In the Information module we publish ge neral information relating to your studies, including course descriptions and booklists. The e-Learning Concept – in brief Once you have entered the teaching module, you will be given general information by the lecturer in question. This may take the form of a plan of action telling you what to do when, or a video in which the lecturer explains the procedures of that particular module.
Teaching methods vary from module to module, as they are adapted to the individual module to give you maximum benefit. Most exams are oral ones conducted over the internet by means of Adobe Connect and/or Skype. You are not expected to turn up in person at either the IBA or LBU, unless of course you want to. The British marking system is used. It is a 100% scale running from zero to 100 per cent. To pass undergraduate programmes 40% is needed and to pass postgraduate programmes like the E-MSc and E-MBA 50% is required. More details are published in both the information and teaching modules.

PAULINA’S STORY:
STUDY ONLINE AND MAKE VALUABLE FRIENDSHIPS Paulina Poskrobko dreamt of enhancing her career goals with further qualifications, but how could she achieve this when she had a demanding full-time job?
For Paulina this was a perfect combination - staying with her full-time job but at the same time being able to study for her Master’s in her own time - and at her own pace.
Her ambition was fulfilled when she began her online Master’s Degree at the IBA while continuing her full-time job as a guest service manager at a large London hotel.
Her studies provided all the challenges, new skills and knowledge that she had hoped for, but the big surprise was the social/networking aspect.
“I’ve always believed a Master’s degree would open more doors to better career opportunities. I spent plenty of time researching the many options. When I came across the E-MSc at the IBA, I realised this was the ideal choice and I had no hesitation in signing up”, says Paulina.
“Thanks to the IBA, I have already secured a job in digital marketing with one of the world’s leading online payment companies, based in London’s Canary Wharf. I recommend the IBA to anyone seeking a valuable, internationally-recognised degree, and better career opportunities in the global job market”, says Paulina.
Those who think online education lacks human contact, cannot be more mistaken! There was even, through organised residentials, the chance to meet in real life, and I have made some great friendships and connections. Paulina Poskrobko Former student at the IBA’s online Master’s Degree
