architect’s studio The design of the studio was to be in accordance with a Master Architect. Le Corbusier was the architect of my choice and his principles were incorporated in the design. Colour scheme of blue, yellow and red have been used with large fins at the entrance to welcome the south west winds which in turn helps in the cross ventilation of the studio. Terrace gardens, ramps , curved walls and room dimensions and heights according to the Golden Proportion are features visible in the design. Small office for principal architect has been provided and the concept of ‘Pilotis’ has been incorporated in the design as well.

information and guidance centre The design implies simplicity with effectiveness. Form follows function has been incorporated for the design. Principles of master architect Le Corbusier such as Pilotis, Terrace gardens and ribbon windows have been the basis of this design. Open to sky courtyard within the building was part of the climate responsive design. Wide passageways for circulation provides a sense of space and volume. The design has been oriented in such a way so as to receive as much north light hence adding to natural day lighting as means of sustainable architecture.

Cross ventilation , natural lighting and aesthetical appreciation have been given thought to during the design process and can be clearly seen in sections and elevations. The principle of hot air rises and wind movement from areas of positive pressure to negative pressure have been considered orienting the academic blocks along the north south axis with longer faces towards the direction of prevalent winds of the coastal areas. Laterite stone is used as the primary building material adding to the vernacular in the design.
