A Cháirde, Fáilte agus fiche go Chathair na gCat. Táimid ag súil go mbeidh Lá le Pádraig den scoth agaibh inár dteannta i mbliana, bliain mhór i stair na hÉireann. Mar is eol daoibh, táimid ag ceiliúradh céad bliain ó Éirí Amach 1916, an t-eachtra a chur tús lenár saoirse mar thír a bhaint amach. Smaoineoimid chomh maith ar shaoránaithe Chill Chainnigh a thug a shaoil ar pháirceanna troda na hEorpa sa bhliain chéanna. Táimid cinnte go mbeidh na téamaí sin le feiscint inniu. You are hugely welcome to our City of the Cats. We are hoping for our best ever St. Patrick’s Day Parade in this, our special year of National commemoration. We are of course commemorating the centenary of the 1916 Rising, the event that began the securing of our independence as a nation. We also remember the hundreds of Kilkenny citizens who lost their lives on the war fields of Europe at the same time. We are sure those themes will be reflected in this year’s parade. Our parade continues to be a celebration of our cultural, sporting and community lives in Kilkenny. We hope you all enjoy a wonderful day and that you celebrate your pride in our native language, culture and Irishness in every way. We wish you and yours, whether at home or abroad, a very happy and healthy St. Patrick’s Day. Is sinne le meas, Cllr Mary Hilda Cavanagh, Cathaoirleach Kilkenny County Council Cllr Joe Malone, Mayor of Kilkenny
