DEATH OF ARCHITECTURE WORK ASSIGNED: SKETCHING
For the national level expo about happen in sixteen cities all over India around February 2018 certain many architects are about present a their view on a city from the perspective of death of architecture in a panel sizing 20feet by 4feet to the maximum. Our perspective is that a city never dies,there might be historical places within a city and on the contrary there might be malls and other recently built modern buildings but whatever comes and goes the city lives. To be more specific, rather than capture something else and to say that this is good and this is bad one can capture the living city at its current state with whatever is existing not to decide good or bad but enjoy looking at it. While looking at the representation point of view the miniature drawings of Ar. Girish Doshi are taken for reference, studied, understood and a style is evolved to capture things better. The goal is to complete the 20’panel into 5 parts of 4’ each with the complete representation of Pune city with its past and current existing iconic buildings. Starting from the historical buildings, till now the captured public spaces and buildings includes, -Mandai (MARKET) -Pataleshwar temple complex -Shaniwar wada -Shinde chatri -Sarasbaugh Ganapati temple -Parvati hills -Juna bazar -Aga Khan Palace -Tulsi baugh -Brick School of architecture.

TEAM NAVKAR GIRISH DOSHI IS THE PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT OF NAVKAR ARCHITECTS, PUNE AND ALSO MUCH LOVED TEACHER OF ARCHITECTURE. HE APPRENTICED WITH BALKRISHNA DOSHI AT SANGATH FOR SEVEN YEARS. HE BEGAN HIS INDEPENDENT PRACTICE IN 1987, WHICH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR A WIDE RANGE OF PROJECTS INCLUDING HOUSES, SCHOOLS, INSTITUTIONS AND PUBLIC BUILDINGS.
