STRINGS PROGRAM COORDINATOR Position Description Role Description The Strings Program Coordinator is responsible for creating an engaging, productive and disciplined learning environment in which every student is equipped and encouraged to actively participate in music making. He/She will continually reflect on and adjust his/her teaching practice and actively engage in professional learning. All teachers at Queenwood are expected to contribute to the pastoral care programs and the wider life of the School, and the majority of teachers are required to act as Tutors within the School’s pastoral care systems for which an additional allowance is payable. This is a 0.7 FTE, permanent appointment, commencing Term 1 2017. Reporting Relationships The Strings Program Coordinator will report ultimately to the Principal and directly to the Head of Music. Role Responsibilities
Assist the Head of Music and the Director of Junior School Music in the development, delivery and promotion of the K-12 co-curricular strings program. Lead a team of string tutors in the development, delivery and promotion of the K-12 co-curricular strings program as part of a collaborative K-12 music department Direct and coordinate string ensembles and chamber groups Deliver private instrumental lessons to individual students Assist in the coordination of concerts and performances, including annual Music Showcase Concerts, Studio Concerts and other whole school music events (such as Speech Night, Carol Service, Foundation Day and School’s Birthday) Manage instrumental resources, including the purchasing, maintenance and inventory of string instruments and print/digital music Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment Use relevant technology to support instruction Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development Prepare required reports on students and activities Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs Attend meetings, rehearsals and school functions as required and perform regular duties such as playground duty. Some of these may require attendance out of hours Contribute to departmental and School programs and activities beyond the curriculum Perform such other duties as the Principal may from time to time direct
