MAP 1 – PALM BEACH TO AVALON 1. Start at North Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club off Beach Road. 2. Walk to southern end of beach and go up the steps above the rock pools. 3. To get to bush track, cross Florida Road and continue R for 20metres, turn L up driveway (1A Rockridge) to bush track (Public Land sign). Follow track to Rock Bath Road 4. Continue along Rock Bath Road then turn L into Pacific Road, continue, then L into Norma Road, continue, then R into Whale Beach Road. 5. Follow Whale Beach Road until you find Public Pathway Steps on your left, this takes you to Whale Beach. 6. On the informal path walk to the southern end of beach, go past the toilets and R up the stairs to Malo Road. 7. Turn R at Malo Road, then L into Whale Beach Road. Continue along Whale Beach Road. 8. 8.Across from #60 Whale Beach Road turn L into a bush track to Careel Headland Reserve. 9. Follow track to top of headland. At rock outcrop intersection (sign on L reads “Loop Trail”) take L fork over rocks past wooden marker post and Blue Tongue Lookout. (!!!CAUTION -NO RAIL!!!) 10. Turn R at cliff edge and continue south along edge track to next junction (wooden post) 11. Turn L into track descending down south side of Head. Follow track to open grass, and at southern end of grassy area, enter bush path that veers R towards Marine Parade. 12. Turn L into Marine Parade. 13. Follow Marine parade to a T-junction and turn L onto Avalon Beach THIS IS YOUR FIRST REST STOP. YOU MUST FIND QUEENWOOD (near SLSC) AND CHECK IN. YOU HAVE WALKED 8KM! – Well Done.

MAP 2 – AVALON TO BUNGAN HEAD CP1

1. Continue to Southern end of Avalon beach to Surfside Avenue. Follow until the dead end, then take the path between the houses numbered 4 & 5 to Barrenjoey Road ( Be Careful - busy road and no footpath) 2. Turn L and follow path behind barrier rail and then grassy verge, then turn L into The Serpentine. Follow this around Bilgola Head. 3. Just past where The Serpentine runs parallel to Barrenjoey Road there is a set of wooden stairs on the L. Go down these stairs to Bilgola Beach. 4. Follow path to beach and walk across sand to Bilgola SLSC and carpark. Take wooden stairs up on southside of toilets with sign ‘Bilgola South Head’ 5. Do not join road! Follow bush track, veer L around the headland and walk down to the sand at Newport Beach. 6. Walk along the sand past the Newport SLSC, and across grass at end of carpark, that takes you to Myola Road. 7. Follow Myola Road (continue past Bungan Head Road on your left) till you come to a T-junction at Bungan Head Road! Cross Bungan Head Road, veer L down steps and driveway (marked “Betty Morrison Reserve”) (which is Myola Road numbers 95 to 83) to Bungan Beach SLSC. 8. Walk along the sand, and about half way down the beach turn R into sand path between dunes. 9. This path becomes steps, take steps and then steep ramp up (Beach Road) to Barrenjoey Road. 10. Turn L into Barrenjoey Road (there is a footpath) and follow.

MAP 3 – BUNGAN BEACH TO NORTH NARRABEEN 1. Follow Barrenjoey Road, turn L into Hillcrest Avenue and follow to Mona Vale Headland Reserve. 2. DO NOT TAKE SLOPE downhill to south, instead continue to eastern end of open grassy area, turn R into signposted bush track. 3. Follow track, which leads to the end of a dead end street, and immediately turn L into another bush track signposted “Basin Bay”. 4. Take a R at the bottom of descent into a wide grassy path and onto Basin Beach. Go past the rock pool to Mona Vale Beach and walk along the sand to the southern end. (DO NOT WALK ONTO THE GOLF COURSE!) 5. At end of beach turn R up stairs to Robert Dunn Reserve, then L and join Narrabeen Park Parade (no footpath) 6. Walk along Narrabeen Park Parade, then go L at round blue sign (opposite house #156), down stairs to Warriewood Beach. 7. DO NOT WALK AROUND THE ROCKS, but turn R and walk along the sand to the southern end and the SLSC. 8. When alongside the Warriewood SLSC leave the beach-front and go up a grassy bank to the far (eastern) corner of the clubhouse. 9. Take the path over a small footbridge and follow the track and steps leading up to Turimetta Head. 10. This track exits to a small grassy clearing, cross clearing, then follow track until summit of Turimetta Head until you come to a track junction. Take the L track and follow this past a wooden lookout on LHS, continue to meeting point on headland. THIS IS STOP #2. LOOK OUT FOR QUEENWOOD AND YOU MUST CHECK IN. MORNING TEA. WELL DONE YOU HAVE WALKED 18KM. 11. Take beach, at southern end of beach turn R, take sandstone steps and track up. Turn L and go around Narrabeen Head Aquatic Reserve. 12. At southern end of headland, take track down to North Narrabeen Beach car park. Go to Ocean Street and cross Narrabeen Lake via bridge. 13. Once across lake, turn L through Birdwood Park to Narrabeen Beach. Enjoy the walk all the way to the end of the sand!

MAP 4 – NORTH NARRABEEN TO LONG REEF POINT 1

1. Continue along Narrabeen Beach to Collaroy Beach on sand. 2. At southern end of beach take the steps just before the rock pool and head up to Stanley and Florence Twilight Reserve. 3. Continue on grassy track and at end of reserve, go down stairs to Fisherman’s Beach/Collaroy Basin 4. Walk along the beach (but not till the end) and up to Seaview Parade footpath. Cross ANZAC Avenue (dead end street) and pass the Long Reef Golf Course clubhouse. 5. Follow footpath and grassy verge to the east to end of Long Reef Headland access road. Go past boom gate and follow track to Long Reef Point. 6. Follow track around a sharp R on southern side of golf course.

1. After your sharp R at Long Reef Point, continue on track. At the next track junction turn L down to carpark and Long Reef Beach. 2. CONTINUE ALONG BEACH TO DEE WHY LAGOON, WADE ACROSS LAGOON IF WATER IS KNEE DEEP OR LESS. IF WATER IS ABOVE KNEE DEEP – SEE ALTERNATIVE ROUTE ON SEPARATE HANDOUT! TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES AND SOCKS! 3. AT DEE WHY SLSC THIS IS STOP 3. FIND QUEENWOOD AND CHECK IN. THIS IS YOUR LUNCH STOP. 4. Continue along Dee Why Beach, go past south Dee Why Rock Baths and go up stairs on the R to a footpath around car park. 5. Veer L into bush track around Dee Why Headland keeping to track around the outer edge, when track splits, veer left, and continue down to an open lookout. 6. Veer R on track and go down to Curl Curl Beach and mouth of Curl Curl Lagoon. 7. IF LAGOON IS KNEE DEEP OR LOWER, CROSS LAGOON and continue along beach. IF LAGOON IS OVER KNEE DEEP SEE ALTERNATIVE ROUTE ON SEPARATE HANDOUT! TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES AND SOCKS! 8. Continue past South Curl Curl SLCS and find track that begins in car park immediately above public toilets and rock baths. 9. Follow track/board walk along rocky foreshore.

MAP 6 – SOUTH CURL CURL TO MANLY 2

1. Turn L into Carrington Parade and after about 100m turn L into McKillop Park car park (on footpath). Follow footpath to southern end of McKillop Park car park and take track down past public toilets to Freshwater Beach. 2. Walk on sand to far end of Freshwater Beach and turn R onto stairs (NOT path) 3. Zigzag your way to Bridge Road, continue straight for about 50m on road over top of headland past Pavillion Reserve, then go down steps to Greycliff St/ Bridge Road intersection. 4. Cross bridge and veer L to Manly Beach esplanade. 5. Continue down esplanade to the next CHECKPOINT. Corner of Ashburner Street and South Steyne. Near Manly SLSC. LOOKOUT FOR QUEENWOOD AND CHECK IN. 6. Continue on path to Shelley Beach, at Shelly Beach Café, veer L up stairs to car park, cross to top end of car park, and on Oceanside locate the bush track leading up to North Head. 7. Continue on main bush track (be careful not to take L leads – they go to unfenced cliff edge lookouts!) 8. Follow track through broken hole in sandstone brick wall and continue straight ahead onto Blue Fish Track (marked with Sydney Harbour National Park sign). Cross road with CARE, and follow metal walkway track to exit at Former School of Artillery. Follow path across lawn and veer left to Gatehouse Visitor Centre, walk around building and down driveway and turn R onto North Head Scenic Drive. 9. Follow footpath and then make a sharp L into Collins Beach Road (CROSS WITH CARE) 10. Go to car park down Collins Beach Road and turn R into bush track to Collins Beach. Cross beach, stay bushside. 11. Look for stairs and bush track leading up to Stuart Street. Continue along Stuart St to East Esplanade, then cross road and continue to Manly Wharf.

MAP 7 – MANLY WHARF TO SPIT BRIDGE 1. From Manly Wharf follow the MSW (Manly Scenic Walkway) past Fairlight Beach to the far end of the Esplanade Park. 2. Walk a short distance along Lauderdale Ave, then L into King Avenue. This bends L into a dead end. Follow track R and continue to North Harbour Reserve. THIS IS 40KM! YOU ARE ALMOST THERE. 10 to go! THIS IS A CHECKPOINT! YOU MUST FIND QUEENWOOD, STOP AND CHECK IN! 3. Take the stairs to the right and then turn L into North Harbour Street. Continue until the bend becomes Clarence Street, turn L down the track with the blue MSW sign. Cross footbridge and continue down ramp (Gourley Ave) to North Harbour Sailing Club. 4. From here follow the MSW signs towards Clontarf Reserve and The Spit. 5. Just past the start of Clontarf Beach is Clontarf Reserve, continue past to more sand. If it is high tide use Monash Cresent. 6. Walk past Clontarf Marina to Sandy Bay. Continue along MSW around Fisher Bay towards The Spit. Just before the bridge at Ellerys Punt Reserve follow track around to R (DO NOT GO UNDER BRIDGE) and up onto bridge. 7. Cross bridge and turn L into Parriwi Road. THIS IS ANOTHER CHECKPOINT. PLEASE LOOK FOR QUEENWOOD AND CHECK IN! CHECK POINT NUMBER 6

MAP 8 – THE SPIT BRIDGE TO QUEENWOOD

1. Continue along Parriwi Road and just before the bus stop turn L down the steps into Cyprian Street. Cross to the footpath on the south side of the road. 2. Follow road to R as it becomes Grecia Lane and continues as MacLean Cres to meet Rosherville Reserve. Go across reserve and up path/ramp to Hopetoun Avenue. 3. Turn L once at Hopetoun Ave and follow road . It changes to Burran Ave until Wyargine Reserve. Turn L here and go through the car park to the bush track. Follow this down to Balmoral Beach (watch the sharp descent at the end to get to beach). 4. Walk along Edwards Beach then up on the path to QUEENWOOD. PLEASE CROSS ROAD AT THE CROSSING! YOU MADE IT. 1. If Dee Why Lagoon mouth is over knee deep:2. Go out the access road of Long Reef SLSC to Pittwater Road. Turn L and follow Pittwater Road around the lagoon (Stay on the nature strip). Then, trend back to coast via L-turn into the footpath that is situated in the grass reserve after the bush and immediately before the first house (944 Pittwater Road) 3. Follow the footpath to the coast past the Dee Why SLSC and link up with the foreshore promenade at the southern end of Dee Why Beach. 4. AT DEE WHY SLSC THIS IS STOP 3. FIND QUEENWOOD AND CHECK IN. THIS IS YOUR LUNCH STOP. 5. Continue along Dee Why Beach, go past south Dee Why Rock Baths and go up stairs on the R to a footpath around car park. 6. Veer L into bush track around Dee Why Headland keeping to track around the outer edge, when track splits, veer left, and continue down to an open lookout. 7. Veer R on track and go down to Curl Curl Beach and mouth of Curl Curl Lagoon. 8. IF LAGOON IS KNEE DEEP OR LOWER, CROSS LAGOON and continue along beach. IF LAGOON IS OVER KNEE DEEP SEE ALTERNATIVE ROUTE ON SEPARATE HANDOUT! TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES AND SOCKS! 9. Take the first footpad to the left heading east to Flora Reserve, and pick up footpath south along the Reserve. Continue along reserve to South Curl Curl SLSC. 8. Continue past South Curl Curl SLCS and find track that begins in car park immediately above public toilets and rock baths. 9. Follow track/boardwalk along rocky foreshore.
