PRIVATE MUSIC LESSON – TERMS AND CONDITIONS Private Music Lesson Rationale • There are normally 38 teaching weeks at Queenwood in a school year. • Private music lessons are initially offered as 30 yearly lessons of 15 semester lessons. • Pro-rata lessons are available mid-term and reflect the number of optional music lessons remaining in that year/semester. • The reduced amount of optional music lesson compared to normal teaching weeks allows for lessons missed due to sickness, sport carnivals, excursions etc. • Where possible, a lesson missed due to sickness, sport carnivals, excursions etc., may be moved to another day; however, this will be subject to the teacher’s availability. Student Absences • For school excursions, assessment tasks, incursions etc., it is the student/parent’s responsibility to give the teacher at least one week’s notice so the lesson might be rescheduled. This is to be done using the teacher’s Queenwood email. Neither the school Reception, nor the Music Department, is responsible for private lesson arrangements or notifications. • If your daughter is away due to illness, it is the student/parent’s responsibility to notify the tutor, using their Queenwood email, before the commencement of the school day. • Where notice is given before the commencement of the school day, lessons missed due to illness will be either rescheduled or refunded. • Absences due to lifestyle choices (eg holiday during term time, birthday celebration, etc.) will be forfeit. • Student who forget to attend scheduled lessons shall forfeit that lesson. Changes to Scheduled Lessons • On occasion, lessons may be rescheduled. This is due to excursions, sport carnivals and special events that occur during the year. Tutors are dedicated to giving every girl regular lessons and the only way to ensure this is done is with some flexibility within the scheduled lessons times. Your understanding will be much appreciated. Teacher Absences • Your daughter’s teacher will notify you by email of any lessons that need to be rescheduled or that he/she will be unable to teach. Other Information • Students who forget their equipment (instrument, music, etc.) will still have their scheduled lesson but it will be a non practical lesson. • Teachers will collect students in Years K – 4 for their lessons but students in Years 5 - 12 are expected to be responsible for remembering their own lesson time.
