Principal’s Award | For Daughters of Old Girls Description

Girls in Year 6, Year 7 or Year 9 in 2017 at any school other than Queenwood are invited to apply for a Principal’s Award. Applicants must be a daughter or a granddaughter of a Queenwood Old Girl. The Award will be granted to girls who would benefit from the variety of programs available at the School; applicants must sit the Academic examination and should also excel in other areas as well like music, sport, drama, art, social justice, languages. Continuation of an Award each year will be subject to an annual review of the candidate's progress and the financial circumstances of her parents. An Award covers full or part remission of tuition fees at Queenwood each year. As an Award is means-tested, parents of short-listed candidates will be asked to present their financial circumstances, signed by a registered chartered accountant or CPA. This information will be kept strictly confidential and will dictate the proportion of fees granted eg. 10, 25, 50 or 75. It does not cover the cost of books, uniforms, excursions or additional individual subject fees etc. Recipients of a Principal’s Award receive additional benefits including mentoring from esteemed Old Girls, regular attendance at the Balmoral Lecture Series, and involvement in the Catalyst Programme for gifted and talented students and participation in events as offered by the Principal. All Awards are given at the Principal’s discretion. The School reserves the right in its absolute discretion not to award a scholarship in any particular year or any particular award.

Notes

Candidates must sit the Academic Scholarship examination to be held on Saturday, 18 March 2017. Students classed as 'overseas students' are not permitted to apply. A family who has already accepted an offer of enrolment from Queenwood is deemed on financial grounds to be ineligible for Bursary assistance. The final selection is at the Principal’s discretion. Successful applicants will be required to agree to and sign an Acceptance Form and a Conditions of Enrolment Form. You must read these Terms and Conditions in their entirety before you sign your acceptance. When you accept your scholarship offer, you are agreeing to and accepting these Terms and Conditions and any other requirements and conditions of your scholarship listed on the Queenwood website, outlined in your offer letter or subsequent scholarship acceptance. If you do not complete the acceptance as instructed, your scholarship may be withdrawn, and/or reallocated. Scholarships, bursaries and awards cannot be deferred or transferred to another year of entry.

Eligibility

The scholarship is not redeemable for cash or other benefits. Continuation of a scholarship each year will be subject to an annual review of the recipient’s progress. Review of bursary recipients, meanstested scholars and Principal’s Award recipients may also involve a review of the financial circumstances of her parents. Scholarship students must adhere to the Queenwood Code of Conduct published in the School Diary. Scholarship students are expected to promote school values including truth, courage and service in the School and the wider community. Scholarships may be withdrawn at any stage if you provide incorrect, false or misleading information or withhold relevant information. This includes circumstances where the false information is unrelated to the assessment in awarding the scholarship. The recipients of Academic, Music, Art or Language scholars may be announced in School publications or used in advertising material. If you are the recipient of a Bursary, Means-Tested Scholarship or Principal's Award, you may choose not to consent to the announcement of your award in: o School publications and/or o advertising material published in commercial publications Scholarship applicants must be Australian citizens or have appropriate residential visas for the duration of their time at Queenwood.

Female students between the ages of 9 and 15, enrolled in Years 6, 7 or 8 in 2017.
