Ripley Minibus Company

As we all know, the travel industry was hit harder than most by the pandemic but instead of sitting and waiting for better times to return, Lee Simpkin, owner of Ripley Minibus Company, saw an opportunity to help the local community.

During lockdown, Lee and his brother Mark (who runs East Midlands Minibus Company) put their time and transport to good use by taking over 200 local pensioners to their vaccination appointments, totally free of charge. “It was really moving,” says Lee. “Many of these people hadn’t left their house for months; in some cases we were the first people they’d had real contact with. It was a privilege to be able to help.”

Now that restrictions have lifted and people are able to once again enjoy travel and holidays, Lee has resumed his usual services taking customers to and from airports, ports, city breaks, weddings, nights out and corporate events … but now he has a new addition that’s making a big difference! Lee’s new purpose built box trailer provides secure and watertight luggage space, meaning that up to 16 people can travel in comfort in the minibus while all their luggage is transported safely in the trailer behind. “The trailer allows much more luggage space, meaning that I can take more bags and equipment – such as golf clubs, bikes or skiing equipment for those on sports tours, or camping gear for people going to festivals, for example. It also makes the journey more comfortable as all the bags are stored separately.”
