L earn i ng by bu i ldi ng BUILD AN OUTDOOR COMMUNITY SPACE FOR AND WITH YOUTH IN 2016!
This calendar month by month will lead you through on the simplified process of HOW TO MANAGE, TO BUILD AN OUTDOOR COMMUNITY SPACE for and with young people in your local area. The “how” is inside, here I would like to give the answer to the “why”.
… for sure you know by heart, why you do want to have a community space which reflects on your needs. But why you need to build it? Mainly because YOU CAN DO IT! You can learn by this so many things you didn’t know you are able to do! And if you plan and build it with your mates it will really reflects on your needs and dreams.
… you might have faced with this problem before that during spring and summer time indoor community spaces are not as popular as at the other part of the year. If you would like TO WIDEN YOUR ACTIVITIES creating outdoor spaces can be one of the solutions. Even a little garden can be an inviting space with a bit of creativity.
… no question, you can give a lot to a community by designing a community space for them. But if you are not just planning for them, but PLANNING WITH THEM, and even involve them to the construction, you will GIVE THEM OWNERSHIP and honour as well, which will raise the importance and the meaning of the space.
… you will (re)discover that building is a real method of community development and even A SMALL PROJECT CAN INDICATE A LONG-TERM EFFECT in the local community.
“NESTing – Learning by building!” was an international training course for youth workers about community planning and building. The project was supported by the Erasmus+ Programme and hosted by the Zala Homecoming Association.

… the social and economic future of your township will depend on your young people, that’s why they need to learn via good examples during their youth what does it mean active citizenship, participation, to be a reliable part of a community. Building a community space can be a school example for that!
