CAFE SERVICE AREA
SERVICE AREA FLOWS WITH THE DESIGN OF THE CURVED RECEPTION DESK AND STAIRCASE TO GIVE THE APPEARANCE OF CONNECTION AND FLUIDITY. BLACK SEMI-REFLECTIVE SURFACE TO CREATE CONTAST WITH THE BRICKWORK AND BRIGHT COLOURED FURNITURE. AREA CAN ALSO BE USED IN THE EVENING AS WELL AS THE DAY; TO PROVIDE LIGHT REFRESHMENTS FOR A RELAXING SOCIAL VIBE AWAY FROM THE FORMAL RESTAURANT SCENE.
SET BACK FROM GLASS STRUCTURE ON STAIRCASE TO CREATE A NATURAL FORMING QUEUE IN BUSY PERIODS THAT WILL NOT CONGEST THE CIRCULATION FLOW OF VISITORS WITHIN THE BUILDING. REFRIGERATOR SECTION FOR COLD GOODS PROVIDED FOR SELF-SERVICE FOLLOWED BY FREE STANDING CAKE STANDS. HOT FOOD AND DRINK FACILITIES BEHIND THE COUNTER FOR STAFF TO PREPARE. STOCK FOR CAFE WILL BE STORED IN THE BASEMENT.
SEATING AREA IN CAFE
THIS SEATING AREA WILL MAINLY BE USED BY VISITORS FOR THE DAYTIME CAFE BETWEEN THE HOURS 08:30-16.30.
VIBRANT LIME GREEN AND DEEP PURPLE COLOURS USED FOR THE FURNITURE MATERIAL TO CREATE A STYLISH, CONTEMPORARY DECOR.
IN THE EVENING HOURS OF 18:30-22:00, THIS CAN BE AN AREA FOR THE RESTAURANT CUSTOMERS TO SIT WHILE WAITING FOR A TABLE - DRINKS CAN BE PROVIDED FROM BAR OR CAFE SERVICE AREA.
MOOD LIGHTING SUSPENDED OVER TABLES TO GENERATE A DEEP AMBIENCE AND TO MAKE EACH TABLE FEEL UNIQUE TO THE CUSTOMERS.
IT CAN ALSO BE A PLACE PEOPLE CAN CONGREGATE AFTER THEIR MEAL FOR A RELAXED SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT INSTEAD OF SITTING AT THEIR TABLE; THIS WILL FREE UP TABLES QUICKER IN THE RESTAURANT CREATING A MORE EFFICIENT TURN-AROUND BETWEEN CUSTOMERS.
SHELVING UNIT ON WALL CAN BE USED AS A DISPLAY UNIT. FOR EXAMPLE; ARTEFACTS FROM THE MUSEUM, ARTISTS WORK FROM THE GALLERY, MERCHANDISE BEING SOLD IN THE SHOP ETC.
SEATING AREA AND BAR IN RESTAURANT
RESTAURANT AREA IN THE DAY WILL ACT AS A MAJOR WALK-THOUGH FOR VISITORS TO CIRCULATE ROUND THE BUILDING. THE CENTRE OF THIS ROOM HAS BEEN LEFT OPEN FOR THAT PURPOSE. HOWEVER, IN THE EVENING MORE TABLES AND CHAIRS CAN BE PLACED IN THIS SPACE IF NEEDED. ORIGINAL ARCHWAY HAS BEEN RESTORED AND OPENED UP TO CREATE A PRACTICAL WALKWAY AND ACCESSIBILITY FOR WHEELCHAIR USERS AND PRAMS. THE TABLE BOOTHS AND LIGHTING ON THE RAISED PLATFORM CAN BE REMOVED AND STORED SO THIS AREA CAN POTENTIALLY CREATE A STAGE OR EXHIBITION SPACE FOR SPECIFIC EVENTS.
BAR AREA CAN SERVE ALCOHOL ALL THROUGHOUT THE DAY - THIS WILL BE A GREAT ATTRACTION TO THE STUDENT AUDIENCE. BEER KEGS WILL BE LOCATED IN THE BASEMENT DIRECTLY UNDER THE BAR TO ALLOW FOR EASE OF DISTRIBUTION. DRINKS REFRIGERATOR BUILT IN TO BAR STAND. THE BAR STAND CAN ACT AS A DISPLAY UNIT LIKE THE ONE IN THE CAFE SEATING AREA TO CONNECT THE HISTORY OF THE BUILDING WITH THIS AREA. THERE WILL BE A MIRRORED SURFACE BEHIND THE LIQUEUR BOTTLES AND GLASSES TO ADD TO THE SOPHISTICATION WITHIN THE SPACE.
