Studio: arch 416 Project: Piazza, library+housing Location: Florence, Italy Partner: Charles hergrueter
this project was completed while studying abroad for a semester in Florence, Italy. The challenge was to make a contemporary building and piazza in this very traditional and historical city. Through adapting traditional architectural elements [such as porticoes] and the use of materials found in the context, a harmonious building was created for this iconic city.

south section the Herreshoff Museum is a large Marine facility on the waterfRont in BRISTOL, RHODE, ISLAND. Unfortunately, THE MUSEUM is not BIG enough to accommodate their exquisite 1/16” scale model of the herreshoff yacht, Reliance, which is KNOWN FOR BEING the 1903 defender and largest America’s Cup boat to ever race. at this scale, the model is 30 feet tall AND 20 feet in length. The design has nautical motifs, proper day lighting TECHNIQUES and a large enough exhibition space for this tremendous model.

Studio: arch 313 project: Academic location: bristol, rhode island
the creative arts center, located on the campus QUAD at roger williams university, is focused on maintaining a link from the dining commons and the architecture building. This was achieved by pulling apart the program and creating a walkway through the building. In result, this area will be a covered social hub that will bring a sense of community to the center of campus.

Studio: arch 313 project: security + welcome location: bristol, rhode island
The design competition for the Porter’s Lodge is an annual Arch 313 event that occurs over one weekend. THE BUILDING IS located at the North entrance of the Roger Williams campus and serves as a welcome gate and the campus safety headquarters. THIS design received first place out of a class of approximately 75 students. This design has a wrapping motion THAT represents the vehicular circulation through campus. The idea of wrapping also defines the program within:
Wrapping around THE interior program
Campus safety reaching out to the community
Shelter for those who enter the community
