WOOHOO! PHEW! HUZZAH! YAY! E V E N T B R A N D I D E N T I T Y | 2 016 The Senior Show is the capstone of all the hard work that the senior art majors put into their years at PL NU. It is a time of excitement and celebration. This spirit is what influenced my design for the branding of this event. Combining the idea of shouts of joy with a sense of whimsicality, I created an aesthetic that communicates this enthusiasm. I have fallen in love with this design and consider it one of my favorite projects I’ve completed during my undergraduate education.

Tasked with the job of picking a city and creating a branding system that personifies the spirit of that host city, this project was a combination of typographic, editorial, illustration, and identity design. By researching the art of the Ukraine and the city of Lviv, my end design incorporates the symbolism often seen in Ukrainian art combined with typographic elements that complement the heritage of the Ukrainian people.

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD COVER C O V E R A R T | 2 014 My favorite piece of literature is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. In visual communications class we were tasked with the goal of creating a typographically driven cover for our book of choice while being constrained to only using three colors, along with black and white, and basic shapes and typography. I jumped at the chance to create a modern aesthetic for such a classic masterpiece.

IT’S A PLAID KINDA DAY I L L U S T R AT I O N | 2 017 The result of a project aimed to gain inspiration from another illustrator this album design gained its origin from the style of the fabulous Melinda Beck. However, over the course of time I worked on this project I was able to find a happy medium between my own personal rough illustrative style mixed with a subtle Beck influence in the detail. While the origin of the name was inspired by the perfect lazy evening: laying around in an oversized flannel while drinking some coffee.

RICHARD AVEDON POSTER SERIES T Y P O G R A P H Y | 2 015 Richard Avedon, the famous American fashion and portrait photographer, had a unique influence in defining culture and style. Noted for his vast achievements, the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) held a retrospective dedicated to honoring Avedon’s collection. In typography class, we were tasked to utilize Avedon’s photos along with the integration of dynamic typographic design to create a series of three posters advertising the collection at MOMA. My purpose for this poster collection is to convey the spirit and genius of Avedon himself.

TIMKEN MUSEUM OF ART BROCHURE E D I T O R I A L D E S I G N | 2 015 The Timken Museum of Art, located in San Diego’s Balboa Park, is home to a collection of European masterpieces. Considered one of the finest small art museums in the world, the Timken provides free admission to visitors year round. In typography class we were tasked with creating a brochure that visitors can pick up and read as they engage the artwork displayed within the museum. I took inspiration from the distinct modern design of the museum’s architecture and the rich heritage the museum houses.

GYPSY’S BREW L O G O D E S I G N & I L L U S T R AT I O N | 2 017 In my illustration class we were tasked with the job of creating a logo based off of three categories (a pet with a name, a consumable product & a familiar place) from which we would draw a slip of paper that we would then combine to give us our inspiration. I drew Gypsy the teacup pig, organic coffee and Miami, FL. The logo, in the end, drew much of its inspiration (using some creative liberties) from the art deco aesthetic of Miami with the hand made vibes of organic products.

PERSONAL BRAND I D E N T I T Y | 2 017 Finding balance in expressing my individual characteristics in order to personify my personal brand was challenging. To create an identity that conveys my simplistic and classic approach to design in a unique and personal way proved to be a puzzle. The solution was a classic yet modern brand using the perfect typeface with simple accents in my favorite pantone, with just a hint of sassiness in the details.
