Hello, and welcome to Manchester Communication Academy’s Community Learning Programme 2015/16. We are delighted to introduce you to our range of community learning opportunities for 2015/16 which includes some old favourites such as Cookery and IT, but also some new and exciting courses such as ‘Train the Trainer’. In addition to our ongoing courses, we also have one day workshops throughout the year in subject areas such as cookery, arts & crafts, woodwork, and many more. We have something for everyone whether you want to gain a qualification, learn new skills, or just get out and meet new people. All of our courses take place in a safe and friendly environment with qualified tutors who will help you achieve your goals. Most of our courses are ‘roll on, roll off’ which means that not only can you enrol in August and September but all year round. Best of all, most of our courses are free of charge! In addition to our courses, we also offer a wide range of other facilities and opportunities for adults in the community including a gym, a book exchange, and new for 2015/16: specialist employment and training advice from our partners YES Manchester - all here at MCA! If you would like to take part in any of our courses or activities, or would like to find out more, please contact us. All of our contact details are on the back of this leaflet. We look forward to welcoming you to MCA.
Courses with a Qualification We offer several courses with qualifications including Food Safety (Level 1 & 2), First Aid (Level 2), Sign Language (Level 1&2), Teaching Assistant (Level 1), Childcare (Pre-school) Level 1, Maths, and English (up to GCSE). For 2015/16 we are also pleased to introduce our new ‘Train the Trainer’ courses in Reiki, and Reflexology where on completion of the course, learners will be qualified to deliver sessions within the community and beyond. Our Learn to Earn Catering course sees learners undertake cookery tuition and gain practical work experience in a catering environment while also gaining First Aid, Food Safety and Health and Safety qualifications.
Courses without a Qualification Here at MCA, we recognise that not all of our adult learners are looking to gain qualifications. That is why we also offer a range of courses without qualifications, for those learners with different goals. We offer courses in English for Life and Work, Cookery, and IT. Our ‘Get Connected’ course is perfect for those who have little or no experience of using computers who would like to be able to get online and use the internet to keep in touch with friends/family, browse the internet, and use email.
Feel Good Fridays at MCA The highlight of the MCA Community week is our Friday afternoon session ‘Feel Good Friday’. The fun starts at 2.30pm when all members of the local community are welcomed to MCA to take part in a range of leisure activities. At 3.30pm attendees have the option to stay with us and enjoy a delicious two course meal for just £1.
Kind regards
The MCA Community College Team With thanks to our partners:
