Your Great Little Breaks Itinerary Tuesday We journey south west, pausing for lunch en-route, arriving at our hotel in Newton Abbot around 3.00pm. Check in and relax before transferring, around 5.30pm, into Plymouth. The build-up for the British Fireworks Championship commences with live musical entertainment provided on the Hoe from early evening. Catering is also provided both on the Hoe and along Madeira Road. The Fireworks displays are fired from the Mountbatten breakwater and are designed to be seen from Citadel and The Hoe, which makes these areas the prime viewing areas. The Championships start at around 9.30pm with three 10 minute displays, generally with a 10 minute gap between each. Wednesday Leaving our hotel after breakfast we drive to Brixham, with its quaint, narrow streets radiating upwards from the waterfront. In the harbour discover a replica of Sir Francis Drake’s ship, the Golden Hind, and view the many pleasure boats at anchor. Later, there is an opportunity to explore Paignton with its delightful Promenade, sheltered harbour and secluded coves and beaches, before returning home during the evening.

A free afternoon to explore the rich history of this ancient city which is reflected in its many heritage attractions, from the soaring towers of Exeter Cathedral, to the medieval Underground Passages. Free guided tours of the city run daily with the enthusiastic Red Coat Guides, and the award winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum is well worth a visit. We then continue to our hotel for our overnight stay. Monday Unspoilt, unhurried, Sidmouth is a small, charming and elegant resort with a level promenade, interesting shops and colourful floral displays. Regency history, clean beaches and friendly shops…. it’s all here in this lovely seaside town that nestles beneath majestic red cliffs and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley. Your Great Little Breaks Itinerary Sunday We travel south, pausing to explore the cathedral city of Winchester. Situated on the edge of the South Downs, Winchester is England’s ancient capital and former seat of King Alfred the Great. It’s the burial place of many of England’s Kings and Queens, Saints and famous people such as Jane Austen, Izaac Walton and Keats. Free time to explore before continuing to our hotel in Fareham for our overnight stay. Monday A gentle excursion through the back roads and byways of the New Forest, a varied landscape of woods and glades, heaths and moors. Dotted with tiny villages and, roamed, at will, by deer, ponies, donkeys and pigs – there is nowhere else quite like it. Travelling via Burley, one of the prettiest New Forest villages, we continue to Lyndhurst in time for a lunch opportunity. The village of Lyndhurst, “Capital” of the New Forest, was established as a royal hunting ground by William the Conqueror and offers among other things, a museum in the New Forest visitor centre, shops, and the grave of the original Alice in Wonderland (Alice Liddell, later Hargreaves) in the churchyard. In the afternoon we continue our New Forest tour and visit Brockenhurst, the place where the North and South Weirs streams join, before returning home during the evening.

Early afternoon transfer to our hotel, then following time to freshen up, we drive into Central London. Setting down near Covent Garden, you have time to sample the many eateries before taking your seats for your chosen evening theatre performance. Return evening transfer back to our hotel. Friday After breakfast we return to Central London. Keen shoppers have the option of being set down at Park Lane, before the coach continues to the London Eye for those who have chosen the option of enjoying a flight on Europe’s tallest observation tower. Your Great Little Breaks Itinerary Sunday Travelling east, we visit Ely. The Cathedral here is a top tourist attraction and it is easy to see why. Look in awe and wonder at this 12th century building. Other popular attractions you may wish to visit include the Stained Glass Museum in the South Triforium of Ely Cathedral, Oliver Cromwell’s House and Ely Museum. We continue in the afternoon to our hotel in Norwich, arriving in time for dinner and our overnight stay. Monday After breakfast we drive into Norwich. The city’s character is spread around steep little alleyways and old cobbled streets. The best, between Market Place and the River Wensum, are marketed as the Norwich Lanes. If you only have time for one, make it the cobbled Elm Hill, with its half-timbered Tudor houses and antique shops. We leave Norwich mid-afternoon, returning home during the evening.

Your Great Little Breaks Itinerary Friday Departing Henley we enjoy a scenic drive through the rolling hills of the Cotswolds region visiting the quintessential Cotswold town of Stow-on-the-Wold. From here we head to Bourton-on-the-Water, a delightful town straddling the river Windrush with a series of low bridges beside neat, tree-shaded greens. Often described as the ‘Little Venice’ of the Cotswolds, it is one of the region’s most popular tourist spots with a host of attractions, shops and cafes to enjoy. We check into our hotel late afternoon with a ‘Meet & Greet’ from the Management Team at 7.30pm. Dinner is served at 8.00pm, followed by entertainment and dancing. Saturday Departing our hotel we take the Severn Crossing and visit the small walled border town of Chepstow situated at the estuary of the River Wye. The Wye Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which straddles the border between England and Wales. We follow the River Wye passing the 14th century Abbey ruins at Tintern to Monmouth. BIG BAND BREAKS – THE LAST OF THE BIG BANDS East Midland Conference Centre & the Orchard Hotel Your Great Little Breaks Itinerary Sunday Departing Henley in the morning we drive to Melton Mowbray, a delightful market town which lies along the course of the rivers Eye and Wreake. Your Great Little Breaks Itinerary Sunday We drive north into the Peak District visiting the picturesque Spa town of Buxton, home to the famous opera house and the Pavilion Gardens. We continue to the pretty market town of Bakewell – Home to the world famous Bakewell Pudding, returning to our Hotel for a delicious 3 course carvery dinner. Monday Today we visit the magnificent National Memorial Arboretum, which comprises 150 acres of trees and 130 memorials of national significance; you can cover as much or as little of the site as you wish. It is the home of the moving Armed Forces Memorial which remembers those who have given their lives since the end of WWII. To mark the WW1 Centenary, the Arboretum includes a special trail which incorporates specific memorials, trees and dedications to all those who fell between 1914 and 1918. The breathtaking scenery of the Lake District exerts a special fascination, with its beautiful combination of rugged crags and tranquil lakes. Our break will be centred on the busy Lakeland resort and old market town of Keswick. Situated between the huge bulk of Skiddaw and the gentle beauty of Derwentwater, Keswick has become the major centre for tourism in the north lakes. This pretty market town offers a wide range of attractions for visitors, from shops and restaurants to museums with a difference, and boating trips around Derwentwater.

Sunday Departing Henley we travel north directly to Keswick, making a convenient stop for coffee en-route. Arriving around noon we are free to explore and enjoy the atmosphere of this pretty market town. Take a stroll to the shore of tranquil Derwentwater for stunning lakeside views, or possibly visit the Keswick Museum & Art Gallery. Our car park is safe, secure and well-lit and you can park here for the duration of the break, free of charge.

DIRECTIONS: Our premises are situated one mile north of Henley, on the A3400, travelling towards Birmingham. On arrival, enter via the ‘Entrance’ gateway and follow our staff directions. For passengers being dropped off and collected at the end of the break, there is ample space for this. BOOKING CONDITIONS Enquiries – just contact our office at Liveridge Hill, Henley-inArden (on the Birmingham Road, A3400 north of Henley) or an appointed Travel Agent. ‘Great Little Breaks’ Booking – For a provisional booking, a simple telephone call is all that is needed. We will hold places for you without obligation for 14 days. (Please note; provisional bookings will be cancelled automatically if payment is not received within 14 days). Confirmation of Booking – In order to confirm your booking we require payment in full within 7 days. Once received we will send you your ‘Great Little Breaks’ confirmation, receipt of payment, the number and location of seats booked and confirmed departure time.

Methods of Payment – All normal methods of payment, including cash, cheque, by debit and credit card and by telephone or by post are acceptable. PLEASE MAKE CHEQUES PAYABLE TO: ‘JOHNSONS COACH TRAVEL’. Please note there is a 2% charge for payments made by credit card. Cancellation by the Company – Should circumstances arise where, due to less than 20 bookings, we are forced to cancel a ‘Great Little Break’ holiday all monies paid by all passengers for that particular excursion will be refunded and following that the Company shall be exempt from any further liability. Cancellation by the Passenger – You may cancel your ‘Great Little Break’ holiday at any time and provided that we receive notice of cancellation within 56 days (8 weeks) of the departure date, then we will refund you the value of the break, less a £20 cancellation charge and the value of your travel insurance premium. No refunds can be given for cancellations made less than 56 days prior to departure. You may be able to claim back the cost of your ‘Great Little Break’ (less the insurance premium and the insurance excess charge) through your travel insurance which can be purchased at the time of booking. For all other terms and conditions please refer to the Trading Charter which is published in our main Summer 2016 Coach Holiday brochure. Travel Insurance – This is available on all of our ‘Great Little Breaks’ from just £14.00 per person. Alterations – The company reserves the right to alter or cancel any of the ‘Great Little Breaks’ listed in this brochure and to alter the size and specification of the vehicle used.
