Houses of Parliament and London Saturday 23rd July

Next we enter the Chamber of the House of Lords, with its Royal Throne and the Members Lobby before reaching the Chamber of the House of Commons. Kew Palace and Royal Botanic Gardens Thursday 11th August

Kew Palace has been largely untouched since Queen Charlotte’s death in 1818 and you can explore the royal kitchens, Queen Charlotte’s Cottage and the princesses’ bedrooms. Tower of London Sunday 10th April

The Tower is home to the dazzling Crown Jewels, including the Imperial State Crown, with its 2868 diamonds and centuries of remarkable stories. The ravens are one of the Tower’s most famous sights. The Fortress Experience reveals how the Duke of Wellington transformed the Tower after a devastating fire in 1841, and we can also discover the Tower’s role during WWI as a military base and the execution site for 11 enemy spies.

Windsor and Windsor Castle Saturday 17th September

For over 900 years Windsor Castle has been continuously inhabited and has been improved and restored by successive monarchs. Our visit includes the magnificent State Apartments, which are furnished with some of the finest works from the Royal collection. St George’s Chapel is one of the most beautiful ecclesiastical buildings in England and ten monarchs are buried here including Henry VIII and Charles I. To celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday, the special exhibition Fashioning A Reign: 90 Years of Style, shall be on display.

Join us on a lovely scenic day out, we travel along the Severn Estuary. One of the largest estuaries in Europe, it has the second largest tidal range in the world. Our first call today is the delightful town of Cheddar, internationally known for its cheese and its Gorge. Visit the cheesemakers, the caves or the museum before we make our way to Burnham-on-Sea for the afternoon. Burnham has one of the longest stretches of golden sand in Europe – seven miles in total, amusement arcades and a busy town centre.

Fabulous Fleetwood and The Fylde Coast Thursday 2nd June

We head north to Fleetwood, a Victorian seaside town with its long stretch of sandy beach. Discover Marine Hall and Gardens, an architectural gem, whilst Fleetwood Market has over 250 stalls to browse. There is also a Freeport shopping outlet, with over 45 stores and traditional seaside amusements. Returning via the coast road, we pause in Cleveleys – A resort with pure old fashioned charm and an award winning promenade with a new collection of artworks.

Lavender Fields and Hunstanton Saturday 2nd July

In July, the fields around Heacham are a blaze of purple. We visit Norfolk Lavender and enjoy a tour of the lavender fields and gardens before heading along the coast to Hunstanton, affectionately known as ‘Sunny Hunny’, and the only west facing resort on the east coast of Britain. It is an attractive Victorian town with sandy beach and a wealth of attractions including fun fair, aquarium, esplanade gardens and boat trips.

Llandudno Wednesday 10th August

Llandudno is known as ‘Queen of the Welsh Resorts’, and is the largest seaside resort in Wales, situated between the Welsh mainland and the Great Orme Peninsular. There is a wealth of attractions including the longest pier in Wales, a cable car and funicular railway and of course the beautiful Victorian promenade curving around the bay between the Great Orme and the Little Orme.

Southsea is a coastal town with a fine gravel and sandy beach, just a mile from Portsmouth. It developed when Henry VIII built Southsea Castle for defence. The town has two piers, with amusement arcades and a ballroom. Attractions in the town include the D-day Museum, Blue Reef Aquarium, Model village and the Royal Marines Museum.

Teignmouth and Dawlish Sunday 31st July

An historic port and classic seaside resort, Teignmouth offers excellent beaches, pier, heritage centre and harbour. Dawlish is a pretty resort town, with a classic crescent of Georgian buildings, it is also famous for its black swans which glide along the river through the town.

Tenby Sunday 5th June, Wednesday 17th August

Tenby is a delightful little harbour town and seaside resort, it would be difficult to find a setting more picturesque. Its old town walls still remain, enclosing the medieval town behind them, and the quaint narrow streets are full of interesting little shops and cafes, which lead to the harbour. From here you can take a trip by boat to Caldey Island, home to a working monastery, or enjoy the golden beaches.

Torquay or Paignton Friday 5th August

Torquay has been one of the top holiday destinations since Victorian times. Head for the waterfront, with palm-lined promenade, sea front gardens, lively harbour and international marina. Visit the Living Coasts attraction, stroll along the pier, or stretch out on one of the fabulous beaches. Paignton has a long sandy beach, colourful pier, paddle friendly waters and first class attractions.

Known for its popular market, there is time to explore over 350 stalls or perhaps visit Bury’s Transport Museum before joining the train on a captivating journey through the Irwell Valley. Dorset Seaside and Steam Tuesday 9th August

Travel to Dorset’s award winning standard gauge preserved railway, where we board our train to enjoy a leisurely ride of six miles through the beautiful Isle of Purbeck, passing the magnificent ruins of Corfe Castle and down to the sea at Swanage Bay, where you will get a few free hours to explore. Swanage has a gently shelving sandy beach, Victorian pier, interesting shops, tea rooms, small museum and of course the Punch and Judy shows!

Delightful Dovey Valley and Corris Railway Sunday 15th May

A lovely day out, we embrace the Dovey Estuary and enjoy a break at the seaside resort of Aberdovey, with its thriving little harbour and glorious beach. In the afternoon we visit the Corris Railway, which was the first narrow gauge railway in Mid Wales. A round trip takes just under an hour and includes a guided tour of the engine shed at Maespoeth and there will be time to visit the small museum.

We finish the afternoon in the seaside town of Whitby.

Tywyn and the Tal-y-Llyn Railway Sunday 24th July

Enjoy free time in the lovely seaside resort of Tywyn, with its sandy Blue Flag beach and its mighty ‘Tywyn Wurlitzer’. In the afternoon we board the Tal-y-Llyn Railway, a historic narrow gauge steam railway which runs for seven miles through the Fathew Valley, past the delightful Dolgoch Falls.
