April Newsletter Region 3, Division 25W Texas-Oklahoma District


Hello everyone, My name is Kathryn Aung and I’m taking over Angela Chen as you new Lieutenant Governor for Region 3, Division 25W. A few things about me: ●

I’m a sophomore at Jenks High School and I love History!

I was the board member of Bridges Foundation where we help clients with special needs work and get paid.

My favorite music bands are Coldplay, OneRepublic, and the Piano Guys!


Lieutenant Governor Responsibilities Lieutenant governor Each lieutenant governor is responsible for supporting and growing the clubs within his or her division and serving as a liaison between the district and the club. Duties include publication of a newsletter, club officer training and support, holding divisional meetings and serving on one or more district committees.

Basically, I’m the liaison between the Texas-Oklahoma District and your club. I can help you with the problems in your club and represent you at the District board. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I will have all the contact information at the end of this newsletter.


DCON 2017 Experience This is my 2nd year attending District Convention and it was fabulous. Afterall who doesn’t love Harry Potter theme! From the intense video game competition, to talent shows and informational forums, this year has been a success. Shout out to Convention Liaison Chris Do for an amazing job organizing this convention! Breaking News: In the most anticipated Texas-Oklahoma Quiz Bowl, Oklahoma won the Quiz Bowl after 5 years of drought!!! Also thank you Brandon Le for representing our division and Oklahoma.


Upcoming ICON ICON stands for International Convention and this year, our Texas-Oklahoma district will be hosting this exciting key club event at San Antonio from July 5th to 10th. The due date for registration has been moved to May 10th so if you want to go, get that planned and send the registration form with $250 down payment to Kenyon Black, our incoming district administrator by May 10. Imagine celebrating the amazing things Key Club does with more than 1,600 Key Clubbers from all across the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.

District Governor: Jiya Willis "Hello Wonderful People! As you all know, I am Jiya Willis and I'm your 2017-2018 District Governor. I would like start off by saying how honored I am to be serving as your Governor. I plan on making this the best year that T-O has seen and making your term as easy as possible. Please cooperate with me as this will be a learning process for us all, but I know we will get through this together. If you ever need anything from me, I will be here. I may not reply within 30 seconds but I will be here anytime you need me. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. I am here for you!"


District Secretary: Shelby Morton "Hello Mighty T-O District! As most of you know, I am your new District Secretary. I am 17 years old and Junior at Randall High School in Amarillo, Texas which is part of Division 33, Region 1. A fun fact about me is I'm a major coffee addict and play bass clarinet (the black saxophone). My main concern is making sure all your clubs are aware to send the reports to myself for the month of April. Also, I want everyone to know I'm available for any questions because I want to make a connection with all of our board. District Treasurer: Sabrina Palma "Hey guys! I'm Sabrina Palma and I'll be your District Treasurer for the 2017-2018 year. A little bit about myself: I am from Rowlett, Texas (in the Dallas Area), I've been in Key Club and varsity swim since my freshman year, and I'll be a senior next year. I'm numerous clubs and extracurricular activities on top of being in IB classes, so being busy is no stranger to me. I also have an overweight dog named Goose who I love very much. I'm excited to work with all of y'all this year. I would love to have closer relationship with everyone, so feel free to contact me anytime for anything! Be the Officer! Club President The club president is responsible for setting and monitoring the goals of the club, running club meetings, appointing committee chairs and delegating tasks as necessary, recruiting, training and retaining members and maintaining regular communication with the lieutenant governor of his or her division. Club Vice President The role of the club vice president can be summarized in one word: service. The vice president serves the president, other club officers, committees and the general membership. He or she is also expected to learn the duties of the president in order to fill in or take over as necessary.

Club Treasurer The club treasurer controls the club’s money, both its collection and disbursement. He or she collects member dues, prepares and monitors the budget and maintains accurate financial records. The treasurer also is involved in applying for Youth Opportunity Fund. Club Webmaster A webmaster is responsible for the public image of the club as it relates to Internet-based mediums like a website or social media. He or she creates, updates, and maintains a club website where appropriate, and he or she manages the social media accounts for the club. Club Editor The club editor is responsible for keeping the membership informed about important activities, opportunities and deadlines at the club, district and international level. The “bulletin� may be a printed piece or electronic update.


Club Secretary The office of secretary is one of the most demanding in the organization and a good secretary is essential to the proper functioning of any Key Club. The secretary is responsible for taking minutes, keeping records and maintaining all important files for the club.
