Exploration de Paris
Initial research, development and progression: Paris is good. I initially started looking into the city of Paris and researching certain areas within this topic. The areas I originally researched into were Parisian culture, things to do in Paris (for a non-conventional tourist) French cuisine, the language and tourist attractions.
I started dividing my research into categories, looking more specifically at the culture and things to do. I looked into cafe culture, bars and dining and ‘living like a Parisian,’ (life style, things to do etc.)

Research, development and initial idea: After gathering all my research and looking at what worked best my initial concept was to create a travel guide for the non-conventional tourist for the city of Paris.
Research boards / Initial idea
Original brief: Consider different aspects of research that make up the exciting city of Paris. Look more specifically at Parisian culture, architecture, cafe culture, tourist attractions, French cuisine, the metro etc. An array of research that boasts Parisian culture and the city of Paris. Consider famous landmarks and tourist attractions, however, look into the culture and aspects of Paris that are not considered so 'touristy', an exhibition of the true cultures of Paris.

After looking at all my research and looking at what area of design interested me the most my design direction began to change. The travel guide was developed into an idea of branding a hotel, located in Paris, that gave its visitors a true Parisian experience. Tradition and class of Paris meets contemporary, refined hotel branding.
The idea was to create a range of products that could brand a hotel in Paris, themed around Paris and travelling. Branding range would include a letter head, business card, post cards, website etc. The style and design of branding itself would be contemporary, however some of the research could help to identify certain elements of Paris culture and history within these designs.

Branding research Once my concept developed and changed into rebranding a Parisian hotel offering a Parisian culture experience in the heart of Paris, I started looking at hotel and restaurant branding to get some ideas of concepts and product range.
Research boards / branding research
Branding research I looked at quite a few hotel and restaurant rebrands to draw inspiration from and see what processes could be applied in a successful way.

Hotel research Once building a concept and looking into existing hotel and restaurant branding I decided to research into a number of modern hotels that I thought would be similar to what I wanted my hotels interior to look like. The target audience of these types of hotels are similar to the type of people the hotel I brand should attract. Most of the hotels I looked in were aimed at creatives which is something I wanted to include in my branding ideas.
Processes: The two processes I would like to try the most whilst branding this hotel would be foiling because I think this could add a nice finish to products such as letter heads, menus etc. and laser cutting. This is because I want my branding to be printed on brown, parchment type stock and I think using wood and laser cutting things such as a menu board would add to the style and look of the branding.
