Hi! I'm Katie, founder of The Well Approach. Thanks for picking up your copy of the first issue TWA Paper, it means a lot! I best welcome you to The Well Club too - a place for likeminded individuals like yourself, to chat about the latest in wellness, share advice and guide each other on your personal wellness journey. I started The Well Approach to fill a gap I needed for my own growth with my mental and physical wellbeing. Fast forward to now, TWA (as we like to call it) has a growing female led community, where conversations are being actively shared and I can report on the latest in wellness to help myself and others. TWA paper was created to give The Well Club extra insight into the world of wellness and offer a little nostalgia. We love to relax, stick on a record and read the paper - let it be a mindful experience. No tech, just you, our words and community.
Issue 1 focuses on the rituals we carry out, from morning to night. With focus on the positivity of summer, TWA brings you an escape from the past months of self-isolation, lockdown and stress. One of my favourite features discusses the best self-care reads, written by a member of the club and an incredible bookseller. Don't miss the activities at the back, give your mind some TLC and get cracking with our wellness wordie. We've added some collages and illustrations throughout the magazine, so you can tear them out, mask the double page spread to your wall or add to your latest mood board. I'd love to see what you create with yours, so make sure to tag us @thewellapproach on Instagram or Twitter for the chance to be featured on our platform. I hope you enjoy the first Issue of TWA paper, hopefully there's many more to come.

ETHIQUE ST CLEMENTS SHAMPOO BAR, Review by Mollie This shampoo bar is amazing! It foams up like no other bar I've tried, leaves your hair feeling super clean and to top it off smells great. I use it in combination with the Guardian conditioner bar, a perfect duo! Ethique don't just make fantastic products, they are also a fantastic company. All products are cruelty free, vegan, sustainable and plastic free. Totally recommend everything they do!
SHREDDY, Review by Liv I started using Shreddy to give me weekly goals and gym routines that I had to stick to. I've loved it and it not only gave me the results I wanted but also a better work ethic, clearer mind and daily routine. Since lockdown, i've been able to switch my plan to a home one and it's been just as good and effective! Would definitely recommend!

LUSH SLEEPY BODY LOTION, Review by Annabelle
MUJI DIFFUSER & OILS, Review by Katie I've been using my Muji oil diffuser for about a year now and genuinely couldn't live without it. I use it every morning and then every afternoon, around 5ish to give my house a fresh-ness boost. I find the relax blend is the one I use the most as it really calms my mood. I think what I like about the Muji oils is the blends they create usually I don't know which essential oils to buy but the blends make it easier to choose a specific mood rather than a scent.

Sweet dreams are made of this. Lavender and tonka bean provide the perfect scent to ease any pre-bedtime stress and anxiety, and the rich cocoa butter formula will leave your skin soft and glowy by the morning. Apply just before you doze off for some wonderfully uninterrupted beauty sleep - 5 stars for sure!!
FOREST, Review by Lydia The perfect little app to improve your work-life balance one baby step at a time. Grow virtual trees and your productivity while staying away from your phone. The best bit? You can plant real trees too (nearly 1 mil have been planted by users!) My little forest is my happy place - it genuinely makes me feel calmer every time I look at it!
MOONCUP, Review by Hannah My Mooncup is fab! Once you practice a few times and get the hang of it, they're so easy to use without all the faff and waste of pads! 100% would recommend to anyone.
MARIO BADESCU ROSE & WITCH HAZEL TONER, Review by Ailish Love this! Purchased this as I was looking for a toner that would not feel as harsh on my skin (as I struggle with eczema). This is the first toner I've used that leaves my skin feeling hydrated and glowing within a week. It doesn't leave my skin feeling irritated or sticky after application. Would definitely recommend to anyone who suffers from eczema prone or even dry skin!
THE BODY SHOP VITAMIN E SLEEPING MASK, Review by Becky

I usually suffer with oily skin, but with the weather changing right now I've suffered with some dryness. I love this mask! I put a light layer on before I go to bed and when I wake up my skin is glowing it's cruelty free, smells amazing, and I'd encourage anyone to try out Vitamin E, my skin loves it!

MINDFUL MORNINGS
Morning routines are hard to develop, habits take new time to turn into the norm and old ways are hard to crack. We're here to share our mindful morning routine, to guide yours into the light - we've been working on this, it takes time - remember no one's perfect! We always found it hard to get up when the alarm goes off, who wants to get up at the crack of dawn when it's still dark out and you've got a warm spot in bed - nobody! After weeks of trying to get up and the right time, making most of the day, it was time to take more serious action. Starting by setting your alarm 10 minutes earlier each day from the time you actually used to get up was our revolutionary starting point. As the weeks went on, it got easier to get out of bed, and by the time we knew it our body clock had adjusted and we were waking up before we needed to, even without a moody episode! Especially when you have no reason to be up early, it's important to stick with it and power through, you wouldn't want all your hard work going to waste now would you? So, we're out of bed - CHECK. Where's the first place you go? the bathroom, obvs. Sort yourself out, and reach for your skincare. We all know how important keeping up with your skin is, if you want that from within glow, and so having a set order of products ready to use in the morning is the easiest way to remember each step without having to think. In the morning we love to use The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, alongside Pixi's Glow Tonic but your individual skin goals will be different to ours. If you really struggle to wake up, using an ice roller works to stimulate the face, de-puff and wake up your face, literally. Get more skincare action with a face workout, see page 26 for the how-to.
TWA PAPER - 8
Whichever part of the morning it is, we prefer after getting dressed, but you might like to do this in bed - meditate. We used to think meditation was unsuccessful, or just an activity out of our reach, since downloading Headspace however, it has really broadened our mind. Choosing the daily meditation, it seems apt to be experiencing the same routine as thousands of other people around the country, not only taking as little as 5 minutes but completely in arms reach. Headspace is a great little app for any time of the day, but we feel, having that time to clear your mind in the morning is one of the best starts of the day we could possibly ask for!
She's got a workout for tons of the new songs in the charts, so choose your favourite and get sweaty. Even better go for a brisk walk straight after to cool down and get involved with nature, another major mental health benefit.
If your routine has you showering the minute you open your eyes, just wait a few minutes longer- props to you though, that way you can't just roll back into bed and have a sneaky power nap. After exercising we love to grab a shower gel or scrub that really revitalises the body and stimulates your senses. The Lush Magic Crystals is one of our TWA Approved hero products, you can read more about it in the back of the paper, but trust us, it's worth the buy. After clearing our head, it's time to go into the kitchen - not for food just yet unfortunately, we'd rather have an iced green tea. Yep, you heard me right, iced green tea is our morning drink of choice, full of antioxidants and to keep us alert in the AM. Making it over ice just encourages us to drink it personally, you may prefer it warm. But this way we get some water in our system and can take our Vitamin C without getting another glass of water. So, moving on to supplements. Whether you're majorly into your daily vitamins or only dabble with a couple, getting them out of the way first thing is best for forgetful heads like ours. We reach for Vitamin C, to make sure we're getting what we need everyday. Fancy seeing if you feel any changes? Vive Wellness offer a fab online service, personalised and delivered straight to your door, in little daily packets so you don't get messed up. They get to know your lifestyle, what you want to achieve and formulate your own pack based on the results. Sound good? Head over to their site vivewellness.com after you've finished reading of course, to start your consultation. Vitamins not for you, your diet A OK? Lucky you! Then let's move on to our next step in our morning routine, exercise. Getting the body moving in the morning is ever so important for not just your health but our motivation levels. Work seems in our reach and our mindset changes completely once we've reached our fitness targets for the day. Recently we've discovered Madfit on Youtube, her dance workouts make exercising seem much less daunting and we need that extra push!
TWA PAPER - 9
Now after that our belly is rumbling, we can deffo hear it. Cooking up a hearty breakfast is one of the best parts of the day, whether you're off to work or at home, make time to eat. Skipping breakfast most of the time results in picking up a pastry and coffee from the local or skipping it completely. Forgetting food, hell no, not in our kitchen! Waking up those minutes early really do pay off when you've got a balanced Insta worthy meal on your plate, don't you think? FED. FIT. SHOWERED. WOKE. We're ready for whatever the day throws at us. What does your morning routine look like, similar to ours? Let us know on socials @thewellapproach on Instagram or Twitter. Remember to tag us in your daily wellness rituals or your skincare selfie, we'd love to repost.

g material? Lydia, Needing some readin , ber of The Well Club bookseller and mem u to self care reads for yo shares her well-good get stuck into.
BECOMING, Michelle Obama Advice from the queen herself? YES PLEASE. Michelle Obama tells her deeply personal, and remarkably inspirational story with grace, candour and wisdom. We all have a thing or two to learn here.
THE BOY, THE MOLE, THE FOX, THE HORSE, Charlie Mackesy Charlie Mackesy's beautiful illustrations depict short, but powerful conversations between friends. It is a portrait of love, loss, empathy and anxiety, "Be kind", it whispers, to yourself and each other.
FIRST WE MAKE THE BEAST BEAUTIFUL: A NEW STORY ABOUT ANXIETY, Sarah Wilson Sarah Wilson (author of I quit Sugar) navigates a new relationship with anxiety through humour, honesty and practicality. She never shies away from revealing her vulnerabilities, and in doing so shares a very moving sense of strength with her readers. REASONS TO STAY ALIVE, Matt Haig Matt Haig will always be a favourite of mine. 'Reasons to Stay Alive' is a book that asks again and again 'is this life worth it?' but will always provide an answer (not the answer, but always a small measure of hope). Punctured by truth, humour and a real tenderness, this is a small, but very powerful, masterpiece.
THE BODY ARTIST, Don DeLillo This one's a bit of a weird recommendation, but stick with me! Published just after the turn of the century by American writer, Don DeLillo, 'The Body Artist' is actually a novel. It's short, sparse but can teach you more about grief, loneliness, loss and the self in just 132 pages than pretty much anything else.
TWA PAPER - 10
THE SUBTLE ART OF NOT GIVING A F*CK, Mark Manson Oh, how original! - another book that has sh*t of f*ck in the title. I can't help, however, but admire Mark Manson's acceptance that "sh*t is f*cked and we have to live with it!" (his words, not mine). This book is the antithesis of the self-help genre, an antidote to it, but that's what makes this so important. It's candid, frankly hilarious, and will really teach you about the few, flawed, but fundamental, things in life.
SELF-HELP by Lorrie Moore This one toes the line of fiction and non-fiction too. Lorrie Moore gifts us nine short stories about love and loss, marriage and divorce, men and women, illness and exists. In short, she talks about life and I loved it!
HOW TO HAVE FEMINIST SEX: A FAIRLY GRAPHIC GUIDE, Flo Perry Generous and accessible, but also frank and funny, Flo Perry's comprehensive guide to all things sex (good sex, might I clarify) should be classed as essential reading. Her openness is refreshing, and the space she creates here is safe and forgiving. Amazing!
TAKING UP SPACE: THE BLACK GIRL'S MANIFESTO FOR CHANGE, Chelsea Kwakye and Ore Ogunbiy Polemic and unapologetic, Chelsea and Ore confront the lack of diversity in higher education with eloquence and honesty. It is full of the knowledge, understanding, advice and kindness that every black girl needs (and it can be a genuine eye-opener for everyone else too).
THE ART OF MAKING MEMORIES, Meik Wiking The third book from international best-selling author, Meik Wiking, 'The Art of Making Memories' explores how our memories make us who we are. This little book is so full of joy and nostalgia, and it will help you think about your past and present in ways you haven't before.
We hope you've found a few new picks to add to your reading list, we sure have! Let us know if you read any of Lydia's suggestions and be sure to leave a review on The Well Approach forum

T F L O A H O W Gym memberships can sometimes feel like a luxury, so we're bringing you yoga at home. These few exercises will stretch out all the places that need it, allowing your muscles, mind and body to relax into the pose. Focused on relieving tension and combatting stress, this flow is perfect first thing in the morning or before you go to sleep. Follow our routine below and let us which one's your fav.
E M
BREATHE DEEPLY First we're going to start by sitting on the floor, crossed legged and breathe deeply for a minute or so. Breathe deep into your lungs, picture the air flowing in and out of your body - relaxing your muscles and clearing the mind. Let your arms relax, placing your hands on your knees and relieve any tension in the body - do this until you feel completely rested and ready to move on to the first pose. Don't forget to carry on breathing deeper throughout this flow session, it will help to release stress and calm your mind.
WARMING UP THROUGH SITTING STRETCH Place one of your hands on the opposite knee, turning your body to the side, feeling the pull through your shoulders right to your arm, see image for guidance. Repeat on the other side, breathing through the stretch then return to your resting position and begin to roll your neck out, circling the head 3 times each way. Moving onto rolling the shoulders forwards and backwards, slowly until you feel ready to move on.
CHILD'S POSE So, we're going to move into child's pose, reaching your arms and fingertips as far as you can, opening your legs wider if that's more comfortable for you and feeling that stretch all the way from the bottom of your back, right to your shoulders. Remember to take some deep breaths as you settle into the pose. Relaxing your upper body and letting it fall over your knees. If you want, place your forehead on the ground, or yoga mat if you have one and keep the stretch.
BABY COBRA Flowing forward through the child's pose, almost into a cat pose, stretching forward as you can see to the right. Lifting your head high to elongate the motion, then folding back to the child's pose, flowing through these two movements slowly, feeling the muscles working. After four motions of moving forward into baby cobra and back to child's pose, finish with one last baby cobra stretch.
TWA PAPER - 12
LUNGE Bringing your left leg forward into a lunge, using your arms for strong support, keeping your chest high, sinking into the stretch of your right leg. Once held for a few seconds, begin to pulse if this feels comfortable, then begin to switch legs and repeat with your right leg lunged forward. Pulsing again, use this energy to bring your feet together, then slowly roll up to standing, slowly using each muscle being mindful of the breath.
THE WARRIOR Once standing tall, move your left leg into a standing lunge, reaching the left arm up to the ceiling, feeling the stretch and pushing as high as you can. Your right arm guided in the path of your right leg, opening up the chest, making a straight line with your arm span. Return to standing once more and repeat on the opposite leg, using the opposite arm to reach up further guiding your eyes upwards, retaining strength balance and hold.
MOUNTAIN Once standing, we're going to lift both our arms into the mountain pose, stretching back slightly, allowing our fingertips to guide the way, eyes up and head relaxed back. Holding this position for a few counts until you cannot stretch out any more, slowing shifting the arms back down to your sides, bringing the head back to its' natural position, remembering to breathe deeply in and out, feeling the breath rise and fall through your chest and deep into your lungs.
AND RELAX Finish by moving the body, circling your wrists, moving your arms wide in full circles. Shaking your legs one at a time, rolling your ankles - breathing deeply through each cool down movement. Relax into a forward fold, be floppy, flowing but still present in the movement. When you feel ready, roll yourself back up to standing straight, bringing your hands to heart, retaining your posture. And you've completed a stress relieving flow, built to be mindful of your body, breath and the movements that allow us release. Why not try it with a friend or another member of your household next time, learn a few new moves from the Calm Club Yoga Cards featured below and promote positive wellbeing with others.
OU FLOW T H IN G S T O H E L P Y Here's some of the products or apps that help us flow at home. Remember, you really don't need extra gear to practice yoga, don't let the lack of a mat stop you! But if you're getting into it, here's some of our faves to invest in.

SPF PLZ
VERYDAY E IT R A E W D L U O WHY YOU SH
SPF, what does it really mean and why should I be wearing it everyday? You asked - we answered. Read on to level up your SPF knowledge and why you need to get on board. So, SPF, what does it actually stand for? Ok well, SPF means Sun Protection Factor and it's really the best anti-ageing product out there, period. Using SPF allows the skin to repair, improving signs of ageing before they've even started. If you only reach for your suncream when the sun's out, you've got it all wrong. UV rays can penetrate through the clouds, windows, even when you're on the plane - no kidding. TWA is here to tell you, you need to be wearing it everyday, it's kind of a big deal. When buying an SPF everyone seems a bit confused about what the number actually means on the bottle. What it really comes down to, is how long it takes you to burn in the sun. In our case, we're pale, freckly, kind of what you'd call an English rose, so it probably would only take us a matter of minutes to burn in the heat. Once you've got your number, times that by the number on the bottle, so either SPF 30 or 50 as you really shouldn't be wearing anything less. And there you have it, that's the average amount of time you have of sun protection before you should reapply. When looking for a suncream, we're focusing on facial ones today, but nonetheless you need to be looking for those that state they are broad spectrum. This means you're A OK, safe from both UVA and UVB rays. Let's debunk this quickly. UVA are the rays that damage your skin on a deeper level, they are invisible and cause skin ageing. UVB on the other hand, are the rays that damage the top layer of your skin causing sunburn, redness and swelling. SPF 30 is really the lowest you should be going on your face and if you think you're covered with some SPF in your tinted moisturiser or foundation, think again. You would need a heavy coverage of either of these products to be protected for that level of SPF, it's great if they have it in them but please don't rely on them entirely. When you use them can be just as important, if you're not using them in the last step of your skincare routine, or god forbid mixing them, they aren't as effective. Where face mists are a great skincare step throughout the day, remember your SPF might not be
waterproof, and so you could be getting rid of your sun protection without even realising it. Because of this, you're best reapplying every 2/3 hours, if you can, to make sure you're using it 100% correctly, even if you don't tend to burn. There are two types of suncream; physical and chemical. Physical SPF's are mineral suncreams, they reflect UV rays away from the skin and are great for those who suffer with sensitivity, acne or need them to get to work asap. Chemical SPF's are synthetic, absorbing the UV rays and turning them into heat which then deflect off the skin. Chemical suncreams can be known to be more pore-clogging, so make sure you try and get the right formula for you. You should be applying chemical suncream 20 minutes before going into the sun, Glossier's Invisible Shield is a great example of a chemical suncream that has rave reviews and comes in at a reasonable price. Another term to look out for is Oxybenzone and Octinoxate. These ingredients damage marine life, coral reefs and the ocean. Avoiding these when looking for sunscreen is the best thing you can do for the environment when wearing SPF. REN's latest launch, Clean Screen Mineral SPF 30 was made with this in mind and is a great brand to buy into for their values and ethos. The few we have featured don't include any of these so you're good to go with our top picks. Our all time favourite is La Roche-Posay's Anthelios Ultra Light Invisible Fluid in SPF 50+ we love to know we're all covered from the UV rays and up to the highest SPF we can. Another new launch that might be up your street is Dermalogica's Invisible Physical Defence SPF 30, another physical suncream with no white cast. It includes zinc oxide to protect from the blue light our phones produce, as well as UV rays. It also includes bioactive mushroom complex that soothes the skin and reduces redness and dryness caused by UV rays. It may have a hefty price tag, and to be honest our favourite is the cheapest of our picks, but if you spend a lot of time outdoors or even behind a screen - this one is perfect for you. We hope we've taught you the ropes on SPF, giving you a few to try out and girl plz - wear it everyday.

WHAT CAN THEY DO Crystals are believed to help unblock energy and restore balance for the mind and spirit. Different crystals are believed to resolve different issues from energy, love, stress, anxiety or even creativity. With specific intentions, crystals with different properties such as shape and composition can align with your personal goals but your own relationship with the crystals and which you gravitate towards are the most cruical to your healing.
INTENTIONS Making your intentions clear is an important way to affirm your goals and direct the energy correctly into your desire from the crystal. Allowing the crystal to understand this intention, is believed to be a crucial way in which it will help heal and benefit from the specific purpose. If crystal healing isn't your sort of thing, creating positive affirmations for yourself and where you want to be can be used as a motivational tool instead or alongside this.
CHOOSING & CLEANSING CRYSTALS First you need to choose which shape of crystal you prefer, whether thats a tumbled crystal (more smooth and rounded, easy to carry round), a cluster (crystals in their natural form, great for bigger spaces), pointed crystal (best for standing upright, writing affirmations and placing them underneath and directed energy), sphere (used most in meditation, easy to hold) or hearts and cubes - directing energy into the heart or to be grounded. Once you've chosen your shape, cleansing the crystal of previous energy can be done in salt water (check if you can get your crystal wet), submerging in rice or placed in sunlight.
CLEAR QUARTZ Known as the master healer, Clear Quartz will create calm and is believed to adapt to whichever intention you set. It has powerful properties and is more so amplifying than other crystals. It's not only popular but affordable too due to the abundance of it on the planet. It is also commonly used to intensify the benefits of other crystals and so can be used alongside other crystals and intentions.

AMETHYST Amethyst is the stone of spirituality, contentment and meditation. It vibrates with a high frequency and so is supposedly powerful when crystal healing. The main uses of Amethyst surround concentration, stress relief and protection. Keeping it close to your bed is believed to help restful sleep, promoting positivity and intuition. Another popular stone, Amethyst is seen widely in jewellery and for decoration, so is easily attainable.
ROSE QUARTZ Associated deeply with love, Rose Quartz is used to amplify love around the home, used in meditations for compassion and kindness. Does your relationship need strength or do you need to channel some self-love? Rose Quartz is the one to use for anything surrounding compassion, thinking with your heart and being productive.

SOCIAL DISTANCING
T W H A T W E LE A R N
Lockdown has been a challenge for us all, adjusting to a new normal, finding different ways to stay connected and integrating new rituals into everyday life. We're here to share what we did during social distancing to stay present and how it'll change our lives forever. Throughout all this, it's important to note how amazing our key workers are and the risks they take everyday to keep the public safe and protected. There will never be enough words to show how thankful each and everyone of us is but just know that if you are a key worker or served at the forefront of this virus then you're incredible! ME TIME Whether you isolated alone or with immediate family, it was clear we needed to find peace with ourselves if we were going to cope with our own company for so long. In our case, staying at home meant we rediscovered our younger self, listening to old records and not really leaving the same four walls. Nostalgia levels were high, not only was this major throwback a fun journey, finding your true self once more, but it was one hell of a comfort. Now we continue to go back to the old albums we loved as a teenager and reminisce once more, because it reminds us we can get through anything. FINALLY GETTING FIT Being told you can only leave the house for one hour of exercise was a huge kick up the bum for motivation levels. Going from not exercising at all, to making damn sure you did at least a solid hour of exercise outside - just because it was the only time to - was the best thing that has happened for our health in this crisis. We began going on walks, making the most of the weather. By the time we knew it, we were doing home workouts in the mornings too, itching to get moving in some way, because hey, we had the time. If you don't have dumbbells, no problem, a few tins of baked beans will do the trick! TWA PAPER - 18
MAKE DO
DE-CLUTTERING QUEEN
We're pretty sure consumer culture and the way we view new purchases was completely thrown on its head. Essential items only, meant no shopping, using up old food, skincare, body care and wearing our old clothes from the loft. It really brought out a new found make do and mend attitude, our generation had definitely lost. Getting creative in the kitchen was our favourite past time; dusting off the scales, baking some butterfly buns from an ancient cookbook or whipping up a meal from a few store cupboard bits. We will never look in the pantry again and say there's nothing to eat, never again.
There had never been a better time to declutter your space, do a deep clean and sort your life out. We go about daily life collecting items we don't really need without paying much attention, but when you finally start to settle in a space you realise how much you could actually donate. We start by clearing out a space at a time, separating items into; keep, sell, donate and bin. This way we can give old clothes, games, homewares to a better home 10 feel good points earned! Once everything is separated into bin bags or boxes, deep clean your wardrobe, shelves or drawers and organise your keep pile properly so everything finally has a home. Once you've blitzed your room, move out all the furniture and hoover in the places you haven't seen for year. Crack a window open, light a candle and feel the zen your reward for all the hard work.
WFH Working from home, whether that's uni work or your full time job, christ that took time to adapt. After a few weeks our motivation levels were majorly high, having nothing else to do really does something to procrastination levels for sure! Zoom was our best friend, a morning catch up with your work wife or setting you and your friends goals for the day, really got us in that working attitude. Making a to do list of manageable tasks to complete for the day, we found tons easier than trying to fit into old routines. That way you could do whatever you liked at any time and no day was the same. QUIZZES WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE A quote from a lovely member of the club but seriously, quizzing was the way forward. Twice a week, we planned a quiz, swapping host duties each time and mixing the topics up. Tuesday's and Friday's became our favourite night's of the week. Using Zoom's screen sharing tool, we could make a presentation that was personal and let us all have a bit of a giggle. Pairing a quiz with a naughty drink of choice, made it feel like we we were channeling a pub quiz, with our mates in a circle and a gin in our hand. Quizzing was the highest tier of social interaction in lockdown and we would love to make it a tradition afterwards too. SELF-CARE SUNDAY, MONDAY, TUESDAY... Time to practice self-care, can we get a hell yeah! Self-care Sundays are well and truly still in the mix but why not give yourself a mini pamper every night, your body will thank you for it. On a Sunday we liked to re-group, steam our face, do a face mask, get some stress relief yoga done and catch an early night. Does that mean we can't do the same on Wednesday too? nuh uh. We did the things we wouldn't always get the time to do; having a bath twice a week, winning! mani-pedi night, blessed! We've only just got used to it, so there's not stopping us self-caring on the daily anymore!
TWA PAPER - 19
After doing this in lockdown, we decided it'd be best to make this a quarterly ritual, so we don't start hoarding or have to do a major clear out again. Why not do this every time you pick up the latest issue of TWA paper? It'll remind you it's time to put your crown on and de-clutter once more. FAMILY The hardest part of lockdown was definitely the time away from family and friends. Not seeing anyone out of the household was a tough realisation as soon as these measures were placed. We grew to cherish a daily phone call, facetime or keeping in touch on the group chat. Sending care packages to those who needed it most, showing you're still there and care more than ever. TWA implore you to reach out to your relatives more often, check in on your old high school friend and speak to your elders more than once a week. You'll thank us for the relationships you continue to maintain, now life begins to return to normality. When you next see someone special, embrace them for a little longer, ask them how they are or even bring them a home baked gift. One thing we learnt from lockdown is that our country is powered on love and love can be the most crucial emotion to get us through tough times.
We hope you enjoyed this piece on social distancing and can relate to it utmost over anything else. Make sure to always keep safe, check in with friends, enjoy time together and appreciate your loved ones - just hope we never have to go through this again. Want to read more? SPOTLIGHT ON...
We spoke to Eve, founder of ede, a skincare and wellness project that focuses on 21st Century aromatherapy for the mind and skin. Made in the UK with organic and natural plant oils, they only work with ingredients that are certified vegan - amazing! Formulating products for the mind and body, ede encourages self-care and ownership of your own wellness to combat the stresses your skin encounters. With strong eco brand values, we're all for their zero plastic packaging solutions and their conscious effort to improve upon this. So, let's get familiar with Eve, we asked a series of burning questions to delve deep into what wellness means to her brand, ede. Why did you start your brand? The roots of ede came from the instant results natural skincare had on my reoccurring acne. That’s when I began making our ‘needs must face oil’ for my personal use and began experimenting with other natural skincare products. Friends and colleagues gave compliments on my skin so I’d make a face oil for them and got raving feedback and that’s how it began. The ethos of skincare and wellness came later. I felt like the practice of aromatherapy was still something age-old. It is estimated that in the UK 50% of mental health problems occur by the age of 14 and 75% by the age of 24. With this in mind, I wanted ede to be a skincare and wellness project that reflects real-life problems in the language of this generation. I wanted to give another option of self-help for a generation of people who need it. Self-help can play a major part in the day to day management of our thoughts and feelings and I know aromatherapy is a great addition to this.

What's your favourite product and why? I love my bde roll on therapist. It was the first product I actually bought from myself, I keep it in my handbag and take it everywhere with me. It’s smells so sweet, fresh and herbaceous and it reminds me to stay centred and keep fun. needs must face oil ede £32
What does wellness mean to you? Wellness to me honestly means getting up out of bed in the morning feeling content and ready for the day ahead. In which case it means adapting my lifestyle the day before to make sure that I wake up feeling the best I can. Do you have any wellness rituals?
cleanse it back face cleanser ede £30
born again treat mask ede £32
post shower nirvana body oil ede £38
A wellness ritual I carry with me daily is to always make time for myself. I can get wrapped up very easily in the busyness of the day, which means to counteract this I make sure to create small moments every day to live and breathe in the now. This for me means going to bed with my favourite aromatherapy candle and a book. Sitting with a warm mug of herbal tea in the morning and doing nothing else. Getting out of bed early for a swim. Taking more time to wash my face and look after my skin. This is the philosophy behind ede too, each product is designed to create small pockets of wellness to introduce into your life. Having mindful moments that benefit your everyday living is so important to myself and the project. What's the best self-care advice you could give? ‘The real glow up was never external’. I read this quote once and it really resonated with me and I think it’s the best self-care advice you can have. I personally take it as a reminder that if I take care of my mind then my mind will take care of my body. I guess it can mean a number of things to different people and how they feel in themselves. It really resonates with holistic wellbeing and the act of looking into the interior of yourself and your lifestyle and how they could be affecting your everyday wellbeing.
We'd like to thank Eve for taking the time to talk to us at The Well Approach and for sharing her brand values and killer advice with all of you in our Well Club.

SEASONAL SKIN FOOD
H IN B E A U T Y F R O M W IT
You can apply mass amounts of product to your face, but the real healer comes from within. We give you the low down on the foods you should be eating this summer to keep your skin in tip top condition.
AVOCADO
The first port of call is hydration. All year round you should be keeping yourself hydrated, by drinking around 1.6 - 2 litres of water a day, more if it's hot out! This may not directly impact the skin but you need to be drinking enough throughout the day to power your body and contribute to your overall heath. As skin is the largest organ, it's important to give it some life, for a brighter healthier complexion.
MELON
GUT HEALTH Whilst gut health is becoming a major trend in the wellness world, it's pretty important to get in those probiotics. Greek yogurts and fermented drinks like kefir, are great ways to get some good bacteria in your system to help with acne and breakout prone skin.
TOMATOES High in antioxidants, tomatoes contain lycopene and beta-carotene, ingredients that can protect against UV damage and improve the overall appearance of your skin. Whilst the UV protection obviously won't replace your SPF, it will help to keep your face radiant with added Vitamin C. PEPPERS The hero barbecue ingredient, peppers are a great meal filler adding vibrancy and a bit of something healthy to a carb loaded summer BBQ. Peppers are a great source of Vitamin E, helping with damage from free radicals (that speed along ageing) keeping wrinkles at bay. PAPAYA An exotic summer fruit, Papaya isn't just tasty AF but this also provides a form of protection from free radicals that damage your skin cells. Alongside Vitamin C, aiding collagen production, the papaya will become your ultimate summer treat. Try adding it to a salad or get messy with ice lollies - we know we will!
What millennial doesn't like avocados, right? Not only are they trendy but they are full of Vitamin E, another free radical healer.
We'll be drinking watermelon. Another great source of Vitamin C but even better for hydration. Another great edition to a summer salad or smoothie. BERRIES Berries are full of antioxidants that do incredible things for the skin. Opt for strawberries if you're after a Vitamin C hit as they are the best source in this category. CITRUS Citrus fruits are full of amino acids like proline and lysine, great for collagen production, and most known for their high Vit C content. Grapefruit has the highest amount in the citrus fam. You should opt for this if you want to even out your skin tone and it can be found in lots of different skincare products if you'd like to apply it topically. This may not be citrus, but Aloe Vera can be a saviour for your skin in the summer if applied topically too! CUCUMBER For extra hydration, the cucumber is your best bet. If you have issues with bloating, the cucumber is known for its power to eliminate toxins to combat this. Make it your morning ritual to drink it as a juice, assisting skin nourishment. COURGETTE An unlikely contender, the courgette reduces oxidative stress caused by free radicals with other powerful attributes like Vitamin C to repair collagen. Try swapping out spaghetti and create courgetti for an easy mealtime switch. The best part about all this, is you get to eat winning! But really, try and incorporate these ingredients into your summer cooking, your skin will thank you for it!

MEDITATION 101
O U R M IN D Y T S E R O T S Y A EASY W
It's hard not to think. Trying to focus the mind on nothing but the present can be hella tough. We know we struggle meditating for the sole reason that our mind wanders. Here's how we get to grips with meditating and what works best for us at The Well Approach. To explore the world of beginners meditation, we tried three apps on the market to see which we preferred. We know it's more than normal to meditate on your own, but it could be harder to get to grips with it in the beginning where you need a little extra guidance. Here's what we thought.
Balance
Balance Find in the app store
Headspace Headspace is a great app, whether you just want to access free daily content or purchase a subscription. We particularly found the daily meditations inviting and useful, the idea of completing the exact same meditation as thousands of other people everyday just promotes positivity and togetherness something we love about Headspace. As we struggle sleeping, the bedtime stories were honestly a huge breakthrough for us. The calming voices, sounds and stories really whisked us off to another place, where our own thoughts, troubles and worries didn't reach. Rainday Antiques was a favourite of ours for sure. The whole Headspace library is really vast for each age range or topic, even with quick workouts for specific concerns. You can add your friends as 'buddies' and create a mini community for yourself.
Headspace Find in the app store
Balance went above and beyond to be a tailor made service for each individual. They look at your goals, age and place in life to create a foundation plan to get into meditation. This guided 7 day plan carefully adjusts your body into practicing meditation daily, being familiar with all the components to meditation. After your first week you have to subscribe to access more content, building on your journey through beginner and to advanced. It moves you up levels, so it turns mini achievements into personal developments, contributing towards an increasingly positive mental wellbeing. The plan felt a lot more structured than the other two apps, so this works if you need more guidance than others but we have to say we connected with the plan more so, due to it's personalised element. Overall, there's an app there for anyone who wants a helping hand in learning to meditate. For a personalised plan, head to Balance; an inviting and eye-opening experience head to Headspace (no pun intended) and for more music led practice or an app to dip in and out of, pick Calm.
Calm Find in the app store
Our Tips Don't let the fact you don't have a specific meditation pillow, soothing music to put on or no incense to burn, be a barrier. You can meditate anywhere and at anytime - taking a few breaths and focusing the mind for a few seconds can be all you need.
Calm Calm is similar in offering free and premium content but with much less to offer for those who choose not to subscribe. Again, like Headspace daily meditations are uploaded to join everyone together. Calm did not seem as vast as the range on Headspace but still catered for all age groups and different feelings and emotions, like confidence or concentration. Calm have a huge library of calming music, if that's your bag and even celebrity segments from Matthew McConaughey's sleep story or LeBron James' mind training exercise. We didn't however feel as connected to this app but still found it helpful nonetheless.
Meditation Incense Cones Urban Outfitters ÂŁ4
The power is to find a position you feel comfortable in. Whether that's crossed legged, sat on a chair, cushion or laying down. Focus on relaxing each part of yourself, keeping your hands and arms in a supporting position but still aligning your posture. Once you have your specified meditation pose, when you return to it again your mind can rest at ease and be ready for some focus. Honestly, we urge you to give it a go. Sceptical? Try it yourself. Have you tried any meditation apps? Love Headspace and Balance as must as us?

CHILL OUT CHOC
DHA FE A T. A S H W A G A N
We love to chill out with a hot chocolate when the sun starts to set but why not level up? We add adaptogen, Ashwahandha to our mug to help us feel the calm.
Hotel Chocolate Milky Hot Chocolate £9
Channelling more holistic pathways, Ashwagandha is an adaptogen (a holistic herb) that aids the body in adapting to stress on the body; whether that be emotional or physical. Ashwagandha is believed to relieve stress, combat anxiety and balance mental wellbeing. The origins of strength and valiance make it a staple for wellness enthusiasts and it's amazing in hot chocolate - winner! It's easy to add Ashwagandha to your favourite hot drinks but we love it in our Hotel Chocolate Milky Hot Chocolate. Completely vegan, Ashwagandha can be added to your favourite plant mylk with some cocoa powder for a DIY hot choc instead. Mix together around 1 teaspoon of each with 200ml of milk or plant mylk. Make it barista style by using a milk frother to whisk it all together and blend until perfectly foamy. Enjoy before bed to have a restful sleep.
Boots Adaptogens Ashwagandha £8
Make sure to research yourself into whether certain adaptogens are right for your body. If you are pregnant do not take Ashwagandha or if you have any other medical conditions be sure to consult your doctor before consumption. Remember, it's a great adaptogen to add into your wellness routine now and again, in small quantities, but do not persist with daily use in the long term.

BEDTIME RITUALS
Now you've got to grips with all things wellness thanks to us at The Well Approach, we thought it's time to settle down. We're going to show you our bedtime routine, to get our body destressed, relaxed and ready to sleep. We've always found it hard to get to sleep, so this routine is tried and tested to get you catching Z's in no time. When our evening meal has been eaten (our fav time of the day for sure) we begin our routine to settle down and get ready to rest up for tomorrow. This time is ours to practice self-care and do the things we love. If this is a real pamper sesh, a bath is our first port of call, with our TWA approved, Therapie Himalayan Bath Salts. We don't need to tell you again how incredible these are at relaxing the body and honestly being the best investment we could advise toward. A dip in the tub, candle on and body scrub at the ready, we take all the time we need to reset and recharge. Not forgetting the crucial step of starting our skincare routine earlier in the night before bathing - an ideal way for your skin to reap the best benefits possible. We like to double cleanse in the PM to ensure all traces of makeup are banished, allowing our next skincare steps to absorb deeper into the skin. Loungewear might be our next worthy investment or a decent set of pyjamas that make you get in the mood to sleep. Our favourite nightwear comes from The White Company, pricey it may be, but it's one of the best gifts we've ever received. The cotton classic pyjama set is where we go to when we need a slice of luxury but for everyday wear, the ASOS mix & match jersey pyjamas with varied sleeve and leg lengths to adapt to the seasonal weather. Let's not forget some cashmere socks or fluffy slippers to complete the fit - we all know we'd love to live in our pj's, let's make the time in them worth it.
TWA PAPER - 42
Now we're in our loungewear or pyjamas, it's time to get stress-less and prepare for a new day. We love to practice stress relief yoga, getting our daily stretches in and switching off tension in the body. If you want to practice our flow at home routine here, it would be the perfect fit, or instead follow one of our fav routines below.
Doing what we love is the next thing on our list. We make one of our favourite hot drinks, maybe our adaptogen hot choc if were feeling holistic and settle in to our bed with a book or the latest series. Trying to limit screen time before we sleep is a must, that doesn't mean we can't catch up on the latest episode on Netflix or Disney +.
It's at this time we love to burn some aromatherapy oils or use a body butter made for relaxing muscles or the mind. The NEOM Real Luxury Magnesium Body Butter has a high status in the wellness world, magnesium especially, the 'wonder mineral' promotes sleep and relieves pain. In a study by NEOM, 86% of people felt calmer and more relaxed when using it for 5 nights - we're more than tempted to give it a try. Until then, we're obsessed with Lush Sleepy Body Lotion, a cheaper alternative made from lavender, oat milk, tonka and cocoa butter for a rich bedtime treat. When we've had our me-time, catching up on a book or show, we put devices down and turn to meditation or a bedtime story from Headspace. Our favourite being Rainday Antiques, the sound of raindrops just does something to the mind - we haven't finished the story yet! What's your bedtime routine? It can be lifechanging to have your routine down to a T, let us know how you settle on a night and which products you reach for on the daily.
