Pentir Pumlumon is one of five partners involved in an interregional project called Metal Links. Metal Links is a European-funded project that brings together four former mining communities in Ireland and Wales. The project is a joint initiative which aims to develop environmental and economic sustainability, to enhance community well-being and pride of place, and to provide opportunities for the present and future. The communities will be able to exchange information, knowledge and experiences, and will benefit from guidance and training in techniques in archaeological, palaeo-botanical and geological field research. There will be plenty of opportunities for locals and businesses to get involved and benefit from the project. From hosting events, providing interesting activities for your guests, adding a sense of place and creating PR and marketing opportunities for the area. Pentir Pumlumon will be hosting the next project partnership meeting in March with representatives coming to the area from Anglesey and Ireland. For instance, how to receive a fully-subsided energy audit and thermal imaging report of the local community hall; or perhaps a micro-hydro feasibility survey.
Cambrian Mountains Initiative The Cambrian Mountains Initiative is a wide-ranging project that aims to help promote rural enterprise, protect the environment and add value to products and services in Mid Wales. The project was inspired by HRH The Prince of Wales who as the Cambrian Mountains Initiative President wishes to help sustain traditional upland farms and rural communities. The Cambrian Mountains consists of a necklace of communities and within the initiative Pentir Pumlumon represents the Pumlumon area and it’s communities. Alongside similar groups from places such as the Brechfa Forest, Llanwrtyd Wells, Rhayader and Llanidloes, we are working to promote and develop the Cambrian Mountains as a sustainable and marketable tourist destination.
