MY NAME IS KATIE FITZGERALD, AND I AM A DESIGNER. Growing up, I always found myself starting a new project. Whether it was painting rocks on the porch, crocheting scarves for my dance teachers, or photographing my neighbor in the yard, I was always moving; always creating. I longed to create something out of nothing, to find beauty in what was once incomprehensible, and to create something I could call my own. I took as many art classes as I could cram into my high school journey, but I left the creative track behind once I started college. Funny how we are usually wrong about our lives, huh? After searching for quite some time, I found myself back where I started - in art. I graduated from Texas A&M in 2016 with a degree in University Studies of Architecture, along with minors in Business and Art. Since then, I have been working as a designer at St. Mary’s Catholic Center in College Station. I love my job and the people I work with, but sometimes you have to take a leap of faith knowing that there are new opportunities to stretch and to grow as a creative (and as a person in general). So that is why you are flipping through this nifty booklet. I hope you find some joy in my quirky, simple little life!
Illustrator and InDesign are my pals • Sometimes Photoshop and Lightroom tag along on our adventures • I’ve never had a favorite color • Canon is my favorite camera brand • My eyes often change colors • Plants and coffee bring me immense joy • I tend to sing to myself around the house • Gluten is my nemesis • I had a pet mouse for five weeks (well, not really a pet; he invaded my car) • Baking is my favorite stress reliever • I have no sense of direction • Walking is my favorite outdoor activity • I’ve been compared to Ellie from Up • I once rode my bike into a tree • Tap was my favorite form of dance for 15 years • I killed my pet fish in under two hours • My car saved my life many times• I cracked my head open at Olive Garden • I’ve been to six countries outside of the good ol’ US of A • My parents are the most compassionate weirdos you will ever meet • Avocados and chocolate keep me alive • I believe that listening is a lost art •
